Morning,
Not a NSD today as I am taking the kids to DS’s primary school to sort out his uniform and I need to venture to the market to get some veg and fruit and some milk from the shop.
I didn’t get much sleep last night and am in a lot of pain this morning, DH offered to stay at home and work but I told him that he’d just get in the way…which is true to a certain extent.
Apart from the necessary I am not doing any housework, okay the washing up needs doing but that doesn’t count does it???
We worked out the dates last night, I go back to see the consultant on the 23rd Sept, if he books me in for the surgery at the end of October I will be in hospital when my brother gets married on the 1st November. I told DH that I will make it known to the consultant that I am not missing the wedding for anyone.
Anyway, have a good day and I will update later.0 -
Morning hon,
my 'baby' gone to school now & I feel soooo alone.
Good girl re less housework & more chocolate, hope the uniform shopping goes well,

Afternoon all,
Here’s update number one…I took the kids shopping for the fruit, veg and milk; I began with £25 in my purse and used £1.20 for parking.
I ended up spending £6.20 in Iceland…I got milk and cheese because I remembered we needed some, it will last us ages, and I got two large bars of chocolate…I couldn’t get away with buying one just for me when DS saw it he said that him and his sister needed some too, Bless! Just noticed on the receipt it says that the store manager was James Martin…wonder if it’s the same one?? In my dreams…
I spent £7.34 on fruit and veg from the stall, the veg will last us about 2-3 weeks so not a total waste, the only fruit I got was bananas for DD and strawberries as DS advised me that he needed them to make him big and strong like his Daddy.
All in all not too bad shopping wise, next week’s shop will be cheap as we won’t need much. Total spent: £14.74 and I have £10.26 left in my purse; the 26p will go in the demi-john.
I am going to finish the cup of tea and [STRIKE]small[/STRIKE] big square of chocolate I am eating and then we are going to the school…I am dreading how much that will cost, but it has to be done…will provide update part two shortly; watch this space.0 -
Update part two, you were warned....
We have been round to the school and I came out £18.50 lighter; I have worked out that all in all not including school shoes as we haven’t bought them yet, DS’s uniform has cost us £40 to date.
I have changed the loose change in the kids money boxes, e.g they each had £1.50 in odds which has been turned into a £1 coin and 50p piece and the odds have been put with the change in the demi-john and all this has been counted. Unfortunately there isn’t enough to go in the bank but we counted just over £10, so I reckon that after we come back from holiday it will be okay to re-count and bank it.
I also confess that I was left with £2 in my purse plus £5 note from my earlier £10 that was left and after all the changing of the kid’s money and I have put the £2 in the terramundi pot.
I now have £5 left; we aren’t going anywhere tomorrow and the only thing that is happening is that the shopping is being delivered in the afternoon…tomorrow will be a NSD.
Quick question for you lovely peeps...
I am considering opening another bank account for an emergency fund but can’t figure out if an ISA would be ideal for this. I know that Quidco are offering £110 if you open an ISA with a bank, can’t remember which one, would it be worth it??? Anyone any advice??0 -
Hi,
oooh James Martin :heartpuls def worth a trip to iceland.
Isa sounds like a good idea to me, I'm going to get one of those when I grow up .... Seriously though as long as there are no withdrawal penalties in case there is an emergency why not.
Re the school uniform, does yours have the sweatshirts with the school logo that they 'insist' you buy for 3 times the price they sell them anywhere else .
Happy NSD for tomorrow, I had my 3rd today, are you on the September NSD challenge ? If not you should join in, it's great, if you completet your target you get clappy hands next to your name on the list, its the only reason I'm doing it

Hi Lula,
I hadn't thought about penalty for withdrawing, might not be a good idea then. May need some more thought.
As for the sweatshirts, yup school logo on the front...£6 each! I bought 2 for DS as he'll get them dirty, perhaps I should have got 3.
Just had a call from the lass that runs the Friday playgroup to advise me that it is back on tomorrow after all and that the time has changed from 10 - 12pm. I doubt that I'll be going this week as my hip is bad. Might give it a go next week though.
I am in the September NSD challenge and so far I haven't managed a single onebut will do tomorrow for sure, didn't know about the clappy though

Hi,
Not sure about penalties so please dont take my word for it, I've been over to the isa board & the word over there is that the post office are launching a new isa today which pays 6.25% & only requires a £1 investment & you can take money out or put it in whenever you like. Sounds ideal for DFWs .
Worth checking out anyway, tried to see if there was a link through Quidco but got distracted by offers for car insurance, I think I'll be trying out sheilas wheels next.
Glad to hear you're on board for the NSD challenge, make sure you declare your first victory tomorrow

It is legal and general isa on quidco that offers £110 but it is not a savings account, it is a stockmarket based investment, so is therefore more risky according to what you invest in and what the markets do.
There are plenty of online savings accounts available on quidco - I opened an HSBC one and an Alliance & Leicester one - both with £20 cashback. I am going back to the doctors this morning, I need some stronger painkillers. I am currently taking a mixture of Paracetamol with Asprin and Nurofen with Codeine and none of it appears to be hitting the mark. I have not see DH look so worried like that before.
Thank you Lula for the tip about the Post Office ISA, will look into it and yup if I get chance to have the NSD I will definitely tell the thread. Doesn’t look like it will be achieved today or do prescriptions not count????
Thank you Hypno for the heads up about the ISA, yes it was that one. Don’t think I’ll open one, too risky for me. Will have a look at the HSBC one though, I already have the A & L one which is for the general savings and I also have an Icesave one for the Christmas fund.
So, plan for today:- Doctors – not taking no for an answer
- Washing up
- Shopping being delivered this afternoon
- Rest hip
- Eat chocolate
- Clicks and comps
Have a good day everyone.0 -
In my opinion, prescriptions don't count when you are trying for a NSD - there is more harm to be done in putting off paying for a prescription than there is benefit to be gained from posting a NSD, if you see what I mean.
So, you can have your prescription, and as long as you don't spend anything else, you can still have a NSD.
So there........
......if only chocolate were available on prescription :rolleyes:Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0
