  • Thanks Lula, I have done the overhaul and no I have not over done it I promise.

Looking at the summary so far, we need to cool it right down on getting money out the cash point and stop with the takeaways again, we slipped up there and started getting them again...live and learn eh?

It doesn't help that the freezer broke as we have lost some money there as we had a nearly full freezer and we don't have the cover on the insurance...Doh! Until the new one arrives on Saturday we are basically eating what we buy that day and using what little there is in the freezer of the fridge/freezer.

Dh has cancelled his mobile as the only one he uses is his work one and we were being charge £17pm for the privilege of having it and he changed insurers which also saved us £20 but he didn't use Quidco! Silly man lol

Aww, thanks Tea, thats nice. I agree with Lula totally about the priorities of life - even compared to many in this country, we're doing okay, and compared to many others in the world, we're very near the top of the tree.

Takeaways tho  :rotfl: I can't remember when I had a takeaway - I guess my version is oven chips and a couple of fried eggs, thats an easy veggie meal :o

Just a thought - did you try freecycle for a freezer? I got my small fridge from a freecycler.

Isn't it amazing about DH cancelling the phone? Stuff like that sounds so obvious when you describe it, but first seeing it and then doing it is much harder than it looks. Good for him - shame about the quidco, but there you go - none of us manage it all!

No need, my mum paid for it on her c.c when she came down, despite much protesting.
  • With so much going on with my family at the moment I’ve lost the urge to carry on debt busting and am tempted to cancel the DD to SiL due to the argument with BiL on Saturday but won’t do as I don’t want it hanging over our heads….families!

So I am just going to carry on as I am and try and get rid of this blooming thing once and for all.

Currently the debt stands at £9894.78, which I am happy with as it is going down; I have been debating with putting £85.55 from the cheque we got over the weekend on the overpayments or towards our holiday next year; having tossed and turned all night I think the logical thing to do would be to make the overpayment, however SiL is getting the full amount from the cheque.

So I have transferred £185.55 over to the savings account and will write SiL a cheque for the amount in the account so far later today and drop it round her house.

Off to update my signature and will update later.

    Hi Tea,

sorry things are a bit grim but try to just keep gritting your teeth & paying off as much as you can without being miserable; the sooner it's gone then you dont have to have too much contact with them . *tries to be positive to keep you motivated* ;)
  • Hi Karmacat & Lula,

Things aren't bad as such just awkward and I've just had enough with all of it.

I have totalled up the overpayments and it equates to £360.98, so I have a cheque to hand which I will drop over when I go to pick DS up from school.

I have jsut been to Tesco's and spent £4.74 there to get some stuff for dinner and I treated the kids and got them some chocolate mousse even though I know that there is a packet in the cupboard I could have used :wall: feel free to slap me someone!!!

Anyway, I now have a nice cup of tea and DD is happily playing, I am then going to attack the washing and sort out what needs ironing and what doesn't.

I will be positive as this is what this diary is supposed to be about.

    Rant over :)

    That's the spirit Tea,

Quick rant to get it all out & then back to the grindstone ;). I'm sat here waiting for my dad to arrive so wcan go look at cars, was meant to be here at 9.30 so I'm getting edgy as working at 12. Have to button my lip though as he's doing the actual buying ;) Have a good day Lula

One thing bothers me out of all this posting over the last couple of days.....

"got them some chocolate mousse even though I know that there is a packet in the cupboard I could have used :wall: feel free to slap me someone!!!"

Why on earth would we want to slap you for buying chocolate mousse.......it is an essential of life, without it we would not survive.

It is more important than water, fuel, and even air..........isn't it

Totally agree with Lula and with Hypno ... I mean, you didn't throw away the storecupboard one, did you? That'll keep. And a constant flow of chocolate is crucial to survival, we *do* all know that. Thats probably why I felt so bad this morning for a while, because I didn't have any yesterday. See, it works....
