Double negative, therefore "YOU CAN'T SAY NOTHING" means "YOU CAN SAY SOMETHING".

Does anyone out there have any knowledge of the law of contact? When DRI took over Sunterra they took the liberty of making several changes to the terms of the original contracts signed by members to suit themselves. As a member (at that time - I have since resigned although DRI still hound me annually for their filthy management fees) I was not consulted about these changes although they claim they had members 'representatives' to wave these changes through. One particular change was to wipe out any market for resale of points by insisting that they could only be sold to existing members (who as we all know were by then aware of what a corrupt organisation DRI was and were therefore not potential buyers). My point would be that this seems to be a case of Restraint of Trade which is I believe illegal throughout Western Europe and the USA. Would appreciate any views on this
  • Hi chris.s there is something about this on the site slugs suggested you look at. There is a belief that what DRI has done does constitute restriction of trade. There is also a lot of other stuff that is of real interest particularly when dealing with this bunch, including info re Silvermans! I have just joined the site and am feeling a lot more confident about telling DRI to spin on it! The number of people joining the DRIP site is increasing and there are now over 500 members! It is run part time by a guy called Alex Paris check it out you will be amazed and well informed after reading some of the posts!
  • O'h and i have just sent my letter back resigning from the 'Club' my fees this year are just over a £1000! According to DRI you are responsible for these until you die or 2054 whichever comes first! They have also apparently changed the rules (with no member consultation!) so that management charges can be levied at any time they see fit! They can also (apparently) charge what they like and the members have no choice (according to them) but to pay! I hope this helps anyone who is considering buying into DRI!

Thanks Talman. I too am a DRIP and have withheld fees for last two years - mine are somewhat less than yours as we only bought 50 (or 5000 or 5 million?) points before we started to feel we were not getting our moneys worth. There was a clear promise when we bought them that there was a ready market for resale which has now been blocked off I believe illegally. I think DRI are counting on disaffected members not having a means of communicating between themselves and therefore being unable to bring them to book for what they have done. This seems to be changing with this and other sites and I think there are signs of panic in the DRI camp that the tea party is over (I heard they were issuing a corporate bond to raise cash - I do hope they are not relying too heavily on their balance sheet to support this application as a lot of the 'debt' showing will be irrecoverable). I would just love to see this company go down the tubes and take Cloobeck and Duffy with it.
  • Lawyers, Linder Myers, who are managing a potential compensation claim against GE Money alleging misrepresentation by Club la Costa, are interest in establishing whether a similar claim can be launched on behalf of DRI members.

There is a simple questionnaire on the TCA website designed to assess whether sufficient DRI members would be interested in joining a compensation group – hopefully on a “no win, no fee” basis.

    The questionnaire is at timeshare.org.uk/dri.html

    Sandy,

Thank you very much indeed for this post. It is lovely to see you on MSE.

Just to be on the safe-side with MSE perhaps you would be kind enough to check-out with the board guides about the rules for self-interest etc etc.

It is really good of you to offer help - I would hate your posts to be deleted for some unintentional breach of the rules.

Rearrangement in the thread title of the words scam a it is and deletion of the question mark may possibly be overdue.
  • Not only does the harrassment continue unabated but DRI continue to provide availability to resorts that their members pay their Management Fees for on the open market which means that members who pay for the alleged privilege of being a DRI member are not able to use their points when they would like to! But of course providing availability on the open market provides the reps a constant supply of new prospects to sell to!! The sausage machine rumbles on!!

    STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!
