Oh dear. Yes, you did say that you had been to another timeshare event. See your post number 523.

"We went to the one in the lake district a few years ago. We had a nice break for about £60. We booked out talk for first thing so we could free up the rest of the day. It was hard sell but we just said from the start we were not buying and it was fine. Believe you me no amount of hard sell would part my hubby from his dosh! Have to say we later bought into a timeshare that doesnt believe in hard sell. We are timeshare converts and wished we had bought it years ago-we would have saved an absolute fortune."

No offence is intended in any shape or form. I have not told you off in any shape or form. I have suggested that you open a new thread about this bargain that you have found rather than sully the waters in a thread about diamond.

It really is easy to work out MSE..........anyone who can understand timeshare and obtain a bargain will have no problem.

No offence taken-but tbh i dont think its a bargain. Its an expensive outlay. But to us we like to splash the cash on our holidays and stay somewere really nice. You would be able to stay in a nice hotel in florida for a fortnight on what we pay for our dues.

I agree with you absolutely that expenditure on Diamond is not a bargain.
I also understand your wish to splash the cash on your holidays.

But I can only reiterate that this should be expressed in a separate thread.

If you have bother in opening a separate thread then others or myself will help. Best wishes.

Super post from mickeymad and a good response from terry. However. . . there are going to be problems for any posters, let alone a newbie, in launching a thread extolling the virtues of a particular timeshare operation. That isn't the poster's fault. Rather, it's a reflection of the way that timeshare, as a concept, has been utterly debased by outfits like Diamond (and others).

What mickeymad is talking about seems to be high-end timeshare from a blue chip operator on a re-sale.

That's way, way different than what MSE threads are mainly about, and MSE posts are mainly about -- a typical one of which is pretty recent, viz: 'been to a presentation, got offered a freebie, waddya think?'

PS: I'm posting as another high-end buyer. Our timeshare acquisition at the newly-created Langdale in The Lake District in 1984 was, by the standards of that time, very, very expensive. But there was no sales pitch. No free stay offer. And no sales pressure: either you want it, or you don't. We did. We bought.

We had some wonderful holidays. And though when we sold, we couldn't be bothered to waste time ourselves so let Langdale do it for us, they charged 50% commission. But was that a bad deal in our case? Not at all. After deducting that commission, we received back £6,350, i.e., £350 more than we'd originally paid out.

As mickeymad correctly says, the timeshare market sector you're choosing to invest in has a lot to do with how you fare: if it looks cheap, then it sure as heck won't ever turn out to be cheerful.

Add to that caveat: *any* timeshare company which seeks to pin you to a chair for a lengthy presentation is an assault on your dignity as well as your intelligence. Those prepared to suffer such insults shouldn't really complain afterwards when they find their wallet has been assaulted, too.

Thanks Phyl. I wish that I had your eloquence. Power to your elbow.

To enforce a debt they must have a county court judgement.A timeshare maintenance debt is un-enforcable if you have not received any service or used the timeshare in the previous year then they can whistle.
These are just empty threats hoping that the less well informed will pay.....or show me different....i wont hold my breath.

I googled "daniels silverman scam" and about 5/6 down found heading "ToHoliday/Elite"........it seems silverman have been sending these letters for over 5 years and as yet NOBODY HAS EVER BEEN TAKEN TO COURT.

    antenna,

You are a real star. Thanks for your last three posts above.

I have taken a bit of time checking this out.

The good news is that I am unable to find an internet record of anyone at all who has been taken to court by Diamond for unpaid fees. You appear to be right. It is all empty threats - they know that no court of justice would uphold their empty threats.

On the off-chance that we are mistaken, no doubt loads of peeps (usually newbies) will inform us of our errors.

Also Interestingly we gave our certificate back in may with copyed letters, all sent recorded have not had any reply or had our certificate sent back to us,we were also affilliated with RCI and had accumilated three weeks banked holidays which we couldnt afford to take, our membership with RCI was never cancelled as we payed up to jan 2011,but we had an email yesterday with offers so after logging on we noticed our three weeks banked have GONE,we are still members and can log on but somebody has taken off the weeks banked,we guess its DRI..crafty lot.
