Big hugs Jackie......which part of canada are they going to? I expect to see a new line in your signature.....savings for trip to Canada. I'm sure you'll sort out a cheapo way of staying in touch, maybe Skype or something like that
Hi.
They are going to Ontario. Ive just been on the phone to my husband (its his sister thats going), and hes not sad at all, hes really really happy for them, and keeps saying its only 6 hours away, we will get to see them again.
Shes just been a big part of my life for so long. Anyway, Im really stuck as to what to get my niece and nephew for going away, I would love to give them a little going away gift, but, I dont know what, and im running short of time to get it for them. Im going to town this afternoon after work, so if anyone has any ideas, it would be greatly appreciated. My niece is 10, and nephew is 7.

how about something like a nice airmail note pad and envelopes set so they keep in touch, with a nice pen? They do some lovely childrens stationery sets. or something like their favourite sweets that they might not get over there?
or make a fun afternoon of all getting tgether and having a nice group photo taken together and giving everyone a copySPC~12 ot 124

Little bear is finally starting the nap he normally starts at @ 11, or even earlier.
We need repairs on our roof :eek::eek::eek: I can see the missing tiles.
I feel a little run down. I forgot to take my antidepressant yesterday, and I haven't managed to get any writing/folding done at all :eek::eek:
Aussie Lass - Please  as much as you like, I would be incandescent in your shoes.
The repairs to next doors roof that are supposed to be started to day have not started. And if their roof is mended, and our roof may be a little iffy but certainly not leaky yet, then I will not have damp creeping in through the shared wall.
Poppyoscar - cats are so odd, aren't they. Our old tom cat, the one that terrorised any visitor, was as quiet as a lamb with the vet. Evil cat just will not co-operate. She once spent 20 minutes racing round the surgery refusing to be caught. When we needed a urine sample to confirm that she had an infection the vet had to sedate her. She refused to voluntarily give a widdle for me, dear heart, overnight at the vets, when squeezed at the vets 'a little bit hissy, a little bit scratchy' was how the vet described her. She saved up all the tinkles until she was finally knocked out. It makes a change - normally she takes the, well, you know!
Now I have rambled on, I think I had better get on with some useful typing.
Very Silly Guy - I hope you are having a good time. Is it very north? I have inlaws that recoil at the thought of travelling north of Watford, but there are some beautiful places north of there. Enjoy the shopping.

Hi Mrs Moneypenny,
We've had photos taken, but, they were really for my SIL and her husband. I was actually thinking of a nice bracelet or necklace for my niece, but, my nephew I dont know what to get. I got him his favourite football top for his birthday, so im stuck for him.

Hi all.
(((Hugs))) to Jackie-W (and welcome to you!) - Have you got Skype installed on your PC? It's free to download and and you can make free calls to anyone else, anywhere in the world, for as long as you like, as long as they, too, are on Skype; if you each get webcams, you'll be able to see each other, too! It's a fantastic free way to keep in touch with people however far away they are. I thoroughly recommend it having relatives in faraway places - I couldn't do without it!
Mrs Moneypenny - congratulations to your DD - you must be so proud of her. Well done!
Well, I've been busy this morning - not done the ironing, although the board is set up ready. I went to the gym and did a bit of shopping and will do the ironing this afternoon.
My DS2 is not one for reading books (unlike me and his brother) but he got hooked on one during his honeymoon (well, he had to do something else, occasionally!). He bought the latest Andy McNab book and said he couldn't put it down. Now, this was music to my ears - I have spent years trying to get him to read and my house has always been absolutely full of books. Anyway, I popped into a couple of charity shops this morning and managed to pick up another Andy McNab for him. I always think that, if you enjoy reading, you will never feel bored or lonely. All I need to do now is work on DH who doesn't see the point of reading a book, which I simply don't understand!
Anyway, off to see what I can have for lunch.
See you later.

got my John Lewis trip done and dusted and everything ticked off my list. Except I forgot to go to the supermarket on the way home:rolleyes: so off there later this afternoon after I've had lunch and done a quick once over with the duster. Afternoon folks
If my typing is awful, please blame the fat cat. She has decided that she wants me off this puter and in the kitchen feeding her, so she is sat right in front of the keyboard and every now and again tries to walk over it to get to me so she can try to climb onto my shoulder. The fact that she doesn't fit on my shoulder and I have to hold her up with both arms is not something she seems to have realised. I am refusing to pick her up and keep pushing her away and with each gentle push I get a warning bite and then she tunrs her back for about 30 secs and kind of edges her bum onto the keyboard as if I wouldn't notice the beeping and strange pages opening over this page!:rotfl:
Anyway, I had a baking day yesterday, Weetabix loaf, a Hovis bread mix and ginger muffins. All of which tasted delicious!
Ok, I hope everyone has a great day!
Haribo - thank you , I used to make lots of soups but my OH really only likes them if they come in a tin!!
redruby, glad you liked the apple cake recipe! I made the weetabix loaf last night and was in distinct danger of finishing off about half of it while it was still warm, covered in butter!
Woohoooo Kaat - I feel like a superstar now knowing you stood and made both my soups! So glad you enjoyed them tho I imagine the flavour of the home grown watercress is what made that one to die for! OMG just carried on reading yesterdays thread and you made my chutney too!! I may have to start signing autographs :rotfl: . That is delicious though and I am about to make some as my tomato plants seem to be dying off thanks to no sun and too much rain which gave them all blight.
Mummysaver - I was a HUGE Blakes 7 fan - collected them all on Video when they were released!! I had the most enormous crush on Avon - used to dream I was the one girl he could truly love. Ok, I am sharing too much again :rotfl:
Welcome back BusyGirl, hope you had a fab time, it sounds like it
Squiggly - thank you for that, he went back to work today so I will see how he feels when he gets home..
Hugs to everyone who needs one and Congrats to anyone celebrating today..
