Daily Thread Tuesday 26th August

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Tuesday 26 August. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning, it's quite a while since I started the Daily. :j
Thank you all so much for the good wishes for my birthday yesterday. you are all such a lovely bunch of people to know. :A
I had to go to work yesterday tea time from 5-7, the new timers for my dryers had arrived so I fitted those which does mean the prices have increased, but there is only so long that I can absorb the price increases in utilities before I have to pass them on.:o No doubt there will be some customers who will complain bitterly.
Mr Twit took us out for a lovely meal, we went to Ricos, no doubt Floss & Morwenna will know where I mean. I still feel absolutely stuffed, good job I've not got a bridesmaid dress fitting today.
Sybil, I hope little bear had a good nights sleep and well done you for tackling the ironing mountain :T I do agree with you about Makro, I see people with trolleys laden with stuff and often by the time you have added VAT on, it's not as cheap as you think. Some of the electrical stuff isn't bad though....although have a look on Amazon and I think there are points back through PiggyPoints
Donny, good to see you back with us, are the renovations finished?
Bethebee, how did it go with your brother telling his kids?
Big hugs to those in need Pen-Pin, Candy's dad, Jayward, Beth's brothers & Aussies DGS to name but a few.
Love to all The Twit :grouphug:

Good morning Whatatwit - I only made it to the thread late last night so I hope you saw my belated Happy Birthday. Hope you had a brilliant day!
I was so busy yesterday that I gave up trying to find time on the computer. We reorganised my office - I don't know how many times that's been done this year but I think we've cracked it this time! DH is going to paint it next weekend just to brighten it up. All the paperwork that needed filing still needs filing but the pile is not the least bit organised now so it's going to take a lot longer!
(((Hugs))) to Smoky, PenPin, Jayward, Essex-girl's Dad, Candygirl's Dad, Aussie's DGS, Beth and her DBs and everyone who wants one.
I haven't had time to catch up with yesterday's thread so have missed a lot of news I expect.
Today I have ironing to do, a gym to visit and the dreaded paperwork. Dinner will be spaghetti bolognese - it's such an easy meal that I always end up doing it when I am busy because I don't have to think too hard!
Anyway, I'd better get DH up for work and then get cracking.
See you all later.

Morning.
Just getting ready to go to London today with the family. Spending 4 days there just doing things on the cheap. Free museums, all day travel pass etc. I have some vouchers for cheaper food, thanks to MSE. So hopefully should have a good time.
I already found cheap rail deals and hotel... So looking forward to going away.
The weather is slowly improving, so the garden should dry up a bit while we are away.
Bank holiday was quite dull. I decided not to go anywhere and spent the day 'pottering' I watched Pierrepoint drama last night, which was excellent.
Well folks have a nice dayNO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -
Morning all!
I hope everyone is well. Off to work so must get a wiggle on - still sat here with a towel on my head at the minute!
Whatatwit - glad you had a nice birthday and I am jealous that you went to Ricos, you could have called for me
I have my interview today so fingers crossed! Sausages for tea I think, not sure what with yet.
I hope everyone has a nice day today and hugs for thse that want one.0 -

Morning all
Not been around much lately due to decorating etc. but things should be back to normal now
Looking after DGD today, which is lovely, but exhausting. No idea how those older mothers cope, I come home and collapse
Left over chicken in a curry for dinner, and will take some sandwiches for lunch which DGD will no doubt share
Hope everyone is OK, have a great day xYou're only young once, but you can be immature forever0 -
Belated Happy Birthday to whatatwit :bdaycake:
Sorry I've been missing in action for the weekend, but it's been a busy one! DH's sister came over on Saturday with her two children and his niece (18 months!) was very taken with his chocolate buttons on his hot chocolate. She's now got DH wrapped around her little finger.........
My mum came over on Sunday because a local stately home that she was desperate to go to was open. She paid for DH and I to go too, so we could hardly say no. It was great. Still lived in by the owners and it felt really homely. The lady of the manor was in one of the rooms giving the history of it all and we all agreed that it's how all stately homes should be!
And yesterday we went to see my friend, her husband and their 7 month old baby. He (7 month old) was just "chatting" all the time!
Today I'm going to come and pester you folk in Yorkshire. I'm making the most of not being at school until next week and going to see another friend with a baby in York!
That meat that I bought last week has been a great success. I made a huge batch of both bolognese sauce and chilli con carne and I've still got 2lbs of mince and 3lbs of stewing steak (all portioned up in the freezer!) to be creative with!
Anyway, I suppose I need to crack on with getting sorted if I'm supposed to be heading up to York today.

Morning peeps
another nice dry morning so i hope that the lack of rain continues, i don`t have any washing to hang out later though as i didn`t have enough for a full load so tonight will be wash night and it will get hung out tomorrow afternoon if the weather is dry.
I must have done something different with the breadmaker last night as the loaf that i took aout this morning was huge, much taller than it usually is
DH is now home so when he unpacks everything there will be even more washing to do  , only two more days to work after this one and then i have some days off which i`m really looking forward to, DH will be at w*rk for all but one so i should be able to catch up on a few things hopefully, i seem to be getting behind with so much but i seem to be tired a lot lately.
My friend whose OH decided that the grass is greener a while ago has now arrived back at the house where they lived, seems like the grass wasn`t greener after all:rolleyes: i can forsee lots of problems until the house is sold which is their intention at the moment. We shall see how things develop, this puts my friend in a very awkward situation as she has moved on and is now being forced back into a situation which she thought she had dealt with once and for all.
Welcome back Donny_Gal - i`ve replied to your pm and will be in touch again shortly.
Off to do some w*rk now so i`ll catch up later.
Have a good day peeps & ((((HUGS)))) to all who would like them.
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon0 -
Morning all,
Woke up with the chooks this morning but had a little Ninny nap this arv.Went shopping this morning. Just been doing bits and pieces today. I hope to tackle my skirt tomorrow. DGS about the same apparently. He has to have his dressings changed each morning at the hospital. No news when they are coming back.
Busygirl Glad you had a great time in Oz. Why do we always put on weight while on holiday?
[STRIKE]scrooge[/STRIKE] N9eavEnjoy London

Beth I forgot to say I made your spicy carrot soup. DGS loved it. Will make it again. Thanks.
morwena Good luck. Hope you get it.
Well I better go and make the white sauce. Having Lentil Lasagne for tea. I made a passionfruit topping so will try that over icecream. Hope you all have a lovely day. ByeeeeeeeeeeeeeeDon't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -
Good Morning All
Enjoy your trip to London N9eav
Was up nice and early this morning so can get back to normal - was very hard getting up though. Am now enjoying peace and quiet while everyone else still sleeps. Will get on with some paperwork - this is always my most productive time of day.
Not ure what we are doing this afternoon, might pop out and get the required school trainers and football boots.
Think will be roast chicken for tea, have enough home grown beans for another meal - they have been very bad this year.
Will try and get some photos of the puppy sorted later.
Have a great day.

I need a rant. I have tried to book one room for one night in a few hotels when we're at a friend's birthday in October. The reply from most "Oh, we only take reservations for two nights at weekends". I only want to stay for ONE NIGHT. I don't want to spend double the amount of money! I'm sure that there's one out there that will allow us to stay for one night. Alternatively I'll tell DH that he can have a "dry" night and he can drive me back to my parents' house 60 miles away from the party...........Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared0
