Never got back on yesterday after a strange & unexpected need to do some gardening!!!!!! (2 hours yanking bindweed off, but I discovered a small blackberry bush under it!!!!) Then I was in & out all day, and off to a friends for the afternoon/evening. So only just caught up on yesterday’s thread.
Belated birthday greetings to Whatatwit  , hope you had a good day in the end – and how come you got a card from Dan Whiston?!?!? (do you ice-skate…??)
Redruby, hope your DD is a bit better & you get on ok with the doctors.
Aussie, (((((((((((DGS)))))))))))) poor little soul  L Give him an extra big cuddle from us next time you see him. And I think you can have a rant – I know accidents happen, but someone should have been watching him near an open fire. *wanders off to make voodoo doll*… glad your Dsis results are ok though. I also thought you were making passion-fruit topped lentil lasagne. Interesting combination…..
MS-Diva, hope your OH is feeling a bit better now but don’t let it drag on too much either. (I had a “cold” last year that I kept thinking would go away (for 6 months ), then got a nasty cough/pain & eventually it emerged I’d then been trying to ignore pneumonia….).
Scuzz, hope your BBQ went well. Lucky I was too busy to watch the craft stuff on QVC, I have a log cabin full of craft stuff I need to get using, but just still keep buying more odd little bits here & there….
Haribo, I know it’s cruel, but your post about misunderstanding the 24-hour clock did make me smile…..:p
Welcome home Busygirl, sounds like you had a fabulous time J Hope the jetlag wears off quickly for you.
N9eav, have a great time in London J
Morwenna – good luck!!!! Let us know how you get on (or think you get on).
VickyA, that’s ridiculous of the hotels! I’m sure there must be somewhere that would like paying customers, especially when many places are struggling to keep going….
Beth, how are things with you & your DB’s??
Welcome to all the returners & newbies too!!! We must all be feeling very motivated J
((((((((((((hugs))))))))))) to all those needing them as well.
Bit of playing taxi to youngest DD today, but she & her little (boy)friend are having the afternoon out up the beach/seafront today. First time she’s really been out & about on her own (other than just round the corner to a friends or walking to school – and that’s only very recent) as despite being about to turn 12 & start secondary school next week, in a lot of ways she’s like an 8 year old. So I think starting to get more independent & changing school will help her grow up a bit. Think oldest DD could be working too & she will want a lift into town, which means I may do a bit of school uniform shopping at the same time.
Also need to finish sorting my hall cupboard, may buy some shelves for youngest DD’s bedroom & put them up. Got carrots & crème fraiche for soup for lunch.
Have a good day all, catch you later.

hello everyone. Been away at my parents for a while for some pampering but back in one piece, well fed and feeling bright eyed-ish
Got lots of chores to get through and have some o/s jobs too - turning a lampshade into a matching home accessory by adding some ribbon, sorting out my knitting gloryhole that I've ignored for several months and meeting a friend for some tea and cake
OH greeted me with an ominous phrase - "just ignore the holes in teh kitchen wall - the blasted shelf wouldn't go up so I had to rip it down" :eeek: Needless to say I now need to contact my BIL to find out if he's free to help teach OH how to use plasterboard screws!!!! Arghhhhh.
trying to get back into the habit of meal planning, but my brain is still on holiday, so off to trawl the old threads for some ideas for some cheap, new ideas and inspiration.
hope all is well with everyone - hugs to those in need and the rest of you as well xr.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0 -
Forgive me folks if it takes me a while to catch up on who's who and to 'get to know you all' this time around. So for now I'll just say 'hello' and 'I hope you all have a good day' ... which hopefully covers you all.
Having left DH and sons to it yesterday I have a fridge to sort out and leftovers to put in sealed containers. Why is it too that when I leave him in charge of the children he always ends up taking them somewhre exciting, regardless of the cost? (No wonder they moan at me for taking them to the woods and the library!) I have conceded that I'll swap some Clubcard vouchers into Days Out of their choice rather than Pizza Hut or Cafe Rouge which was their last request though.
I see it's National Breakfast Week. This morning I did pains au chocolat (2 for 1 multipacks) and mini French batons (late night 25p for 3) with hot chocolate, trying to emulate the free French breakfast I tok them for (Bonne Maman jam vouchers) last week. Apparently OH gave them a traditional English breakfast yesterday morning (he must have taken them out to buy sausages too then!). So we're going for an international theme and tomorrow is American. Syrup pancakes? Waffles? Any suggestions for MSE international breakfasts would be appreciated as I haven't got a clue how we're going to sustain this for a week (and salami and cheese won't go down well).
I was hoping for an NSD but have a long-standing arrangement to meet OH's god-daughter and mum, promising a piece of cake from their cafe, at a country park. We'll be passing Tesco on the way home - are there any great new offers out today?
Have a good day everyone.

Morning all!
Grey and gloomy here and back to work tonight, sigh!
Lunch will be hm rolls and carrot soup, since bags of them are on offer in lidl's and I got several the other day! Dinner for the children will be hm meatballs and spaghetti, no idea what my dinner will be, something taken into work no doubt. Must remember to take Twink's recipe and some of the hobnobs in to my friend who I keep telling about them and is now very keen to try them herself, already warned her that one is not enough!
Don't know what we'll be doing today, might go out if the weather holds. Have a good day all xxGC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -
I managed to skim most of yesterday's thread...
Aussie Lass, so sorry to hear about your poor darling grandson. I do hope he feels better soon. I think you have every right to rant - two adults, one little boy and a fire, surely he should have been safe. (:o though I don't want to tempt fate by saying that accidents can't happen with little bear getting more adventurous by the day).
Little bear had a big cry at 4am. I don't understand what is happening. I don't think he is too warm, I am confident he is not too cold, I don't think he is hungry or that there is wind. I think he may be having nightmares, because when I picked him up he just held on to me for ages, like he was waking up. It's a very distinctive cry - I recognise the 'hungry' cry, and 'uncomfortable or wet' and 'pandy has left the playpen and I am devastated' cries. This is something else. He also insists on looking under the bed, so I do think 'nightmare' may be a possibility. Poor little mite.
Today is going to be an interesting day, but perhaps not as old style as I would like. Tea is tinned pie (ages ago I stocked up on around 20 and I want to get them used so I can fill my cupboards with more sensible things) and mash which at least will be home made and carrots. I need to get a repeat prescription in, which is a bit of a journey with little bear and I get very silly about it, pick up birthday cards for dear heart (his birthday tomorrow) and go and buy any of the marked down hand wash they have left in the chemists - it dispenses the wash in very tiny amounts which are exactly right and my hands feel in much better state, so worth it for £1 to use in the kitchen! It smells gorgeous and I expect it to last for months. I am going to take the advice on other threads and use value bubble bath for handwash in the bath and bath room.
I also need to finish the piece of fiction for dear heart's birthday present, which will be a bit of a challenge because he REALLY annoyed me yesterday and I have a thousand leaflets to fold for our local councillor. I am not wanting to raise the contentious issue of politics here, but our local councillor holds lots of surgeries, has a 100% attendance record at meetings and is always willing to help out. They are really pleasant and helpful, even when an election is not coming up and you need to sort out what is happening with the bins. But I think I will be folding leaflets for ever as there are another 9,000 that need doing afterwards.
However, I don't need to iron anything, and so I will get the washing machine on and perhaps the breadmaker (if I can find the instruction booklet).
Hugs to everyone. I always forget what I am going to write when I come to say hugs.Hope everyone has a good day.

Morning all,
Another dull day here  , they said no rain though, so I have the bedding in the wm, I also have two more loads to go in, but only like to do one a day, otherwise the house looks like a laundry.
OH is taking his van to get a new exhaust fitted this morning, not sure what dd and I will do, I still need to get her trainers for school, so might get them today, OH will pop into Lidl whilst at garage, and pick up some of their washing liquid and conditioner, which is a lot cheaper than sainsbugs. I also need to do an online shop today.
Its my little dogs birthday today, she is 7, which is 49 in doggie years, and she is still as bouncy and mad as a puppy.
Chicken casserole for tea, which dd has requested, with the last of the spuds from my garden, and the runner beans from my neighbours garden :T
We might go off down to Dorset way for the day on Friday, so if anyone has any suggestions of somewhere nice to visit please let me know.
Aussie, hugs to your DGS, I also thought you were having passion fruit topping on your lasagne, I wouldn't put it past you
Beth, hugs to your DB's xx
Well OH is making me a bacon sarnie so better get off have good days all xx0
