I could be wrong, but from memory I think I either read about, or saw something about a scam of this nature on TV. Try googling a variety of words associated and see what comes up. It may give you some ammunition for when you approach the police if it has been a problem before.

    Edited to add

I just googled it and found I was correct, one story refers to a club in Dublin, sounds a very similar scenario though. I thought the one I read was about a West End club though so dig a bit deeper.

well. I'm sorry that I can't help with any previous experiences, having never been in one...I've spent money unwisely over the years but never that.

I hope OP is OK - I'm sure they didn't come on here for a laugh or a kicking.

Realistically, I'm surprised all the transactions went through without a phonecall or a block and I hope the card itself has been stopped - it may have been confirmed but I could easily have missed it.

OP needs to really think if they were unusually out of it and if their drink was spiked...could be a whole lot of reasons but I'm thinking it would hard for the club to dispute all 4 chargebacks if the OP made them - opposing the transactions. Even if they could dispute them they'd have to explain what the money was for, I'd have thought, which could raise some other questions...
For what I've done...I start again...And whatever pain may come ...Today this ends... I'm forgiving what I've done -AF since June 2007

Its a very big long shot, but I think (maybe wrong), but with all the cctv lark, as a consumer you could argue you have a right to see the cctv as you were videoed without your express permission, it is a very grey area, but def worth a try.

It is not a grey area. You are entitled to do so under the Data Protection Act.
I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?

There's no denying I was drunk (I'd have never gone in a lapdancing club if I wasn't - it's just not my thing) - but I've never 'lost' 4-5 hours before...

It's horrendously unnerving, and the horrific amount of cash is too much to contemplate. It'd be my life's savings gone...

I'm embarrassed, humiliated, and ashamed to be asking this question.

Firstly, visiting a strip club is not something I ordinarily do - but on Thursday night, I was hideously drunk and taken to a club with a colleague. I have no recollection whatsoever of the next 4 hours, and it seems my colleague deserted me in there.

(I know some of you will not believe that I have no memory of this time, but I assure you that it is true. I remember nothing but random snippets until leaving. I've never experienced this kind of memory loss before.)

I woke up feeling dirty and embarrassed, then distraught to find 4 credit card receipts, each for £1000 in my pocket. All verified by pin.
i believed u up to that point... who the hell is gonna rob your cards and leave you with the receipts??

if u were drugged, how would they get your pin?? unless you had it written down or summat...

If you were drugged, you would have been an easy target. I think you were lucky they only took your money to be honest.

If the OP was totally out of it and someone took his card from him to user for false transactions, then I'm sure it would be just as easy to slip receipts in his pocket too, so that he would think he paid for the transactions himself.

OP, did you find out whether the place has CCTV or not? Or have you tried to Google the name of the establishment to see if there are any other dodgy stories about the place.

The OP could easily have been spiked ~ why do people believe women, but don't believe men??

Hopefully the police can tell me whether there are any other dodgy stories - can't see much online immediately, but will take a proper look.

I wish I could remember more - I have no answers to the queries raised by others because I remember absolutely nothing...
