OP, stick to Rugby Club do's in future. £5 in, doors locked at 9.00pm sharp, beer at £2.10 a pint, and pie & peas for £1.50 (or so I've heard!).0 -
This sounds like a nightmare, good luck OP hope it all works out ok, although I dont drink anymore (been drunk once before) to not remember anything does not sound right to me, I would certainly be suspicious of drinks being spiked.0

I've got to say you're not going to get anywhere on a legal footing unless you can prove you didn't consent. But the PIN kinda says you weren't completely comatose so I can't see what the argument would be. The police would effectively make a note of it, but if no crime has been committed what can they do?
But you have been seriously scammed and that is not right.
You have potentially cost them more than £4k and the way to do that is get a reporter on your side. This would make a nice little story for the local rag. You have proof in terms of the receipts, they would be contacted by the reporter for their version of events. Then you give them a way out......Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

I appreciate some doubt the authenticity of my claims in the post, but my absence of recall is genuine, as is my distresss.
Point being you cannot recall therefore you cannot remember if you got your 4K worth of services or not? As you cannot recall either way how are you so sure that this is fraud? People do stupid things when drunk. If you got 4Ks worth of services from this establishment but were too drunk too remember it that's your fault you didn't appreciate the money you spent. If people starting making chargebacks and CC companies allowed them because they couldn't remember drinking those last 4 beers (smalltime version of what happened to you) lots of people would be doing it and it would make a farse of the chargeback system which is in place to protect people who are genuinely ripped off.
Obviously the point goes in reverse maybe something dodgy did go on so get over the shame and investigate but as you cannot say for sure either way so you can only make small steps. Ask exactly what the payments were for, for accouting purposes it will have to go through as something. The outside hours charge may not have been for alcohol so therefore it could be perfectly legit. Mention it to trading standards, police etc but be truthful because if you say you were a victim of fraud and you don't actually know this you would be committing fraud yourself if you are wrong.
Live and learn. Stop drinking/cut down on how much you drink next time and leave your CCs DCs at home next time and bring a set budget and bring it in cash. We all make mistakes, some more expensive than others.0 -

How do you know this? Were you there? Did you witness this? The OP openly says he cannot remember what happened so how do you know what happened? It could be a case of he got 4K worth of services but was too drunk to know. How is this a scam? If someone knowingly gets drunk and spends money that is their issue. Okay, we could get into the ethical is it right to sell stuff to drunk people but think of all those extra drinks served to drunk people, the kebabs bought, the people who phone up late night quiz shows drunk, the people who make silly purchases online when they get in after a night out. All fall into the same category and that is not what we are discussing.
Obviously I'm not saying he definitely wasn't scammed as none of us know and we only know what the OP has told us. I think that's the whole point of this thread. Assuming it must be a scam is just ignorant (lacking the knowledge supplied by the OP) and why I posted my last post to take the other side. I just don't like the idea people assuming it has to be a scam.0 -

Yes, OK that approach is perfectly reasonable in most circumstances.
But £4k worth of services? What planet are you living on? The benefit of the doubt seems a bit redundant to me. But of course the OP could be telling porkies.Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j
