The most astonishing thing about all of this is the number of posters who genuinely believe this tale.
Am I too cynical or are you all too gullible ?0 -
MJ2008, is this the first assingnmentof your "Creative Writer's Club" or have you been at this before?0

I work for the club, if you all send me £1 I'll refund it to him. Honest.0

I saw nothing in the original post which led me to believe that the OP wasn't genuine. I find it entirely plausible that someone might blow £4K in a strip club.
If the OP is a hoaxer I'd have to ask why he bothered? There's nothing particularly clever or amusing about the post.
Why is the number of people who believe the OP 'astonishing' and why would you presume that the OP is liar?0 -

Based on my own experiences with card fraud it is possible for this sort of thing to happen.Happy chappy0 -

He bothered because he builds up to getting 50% of the people feeling sorry for him, then asking for £1 from each of you, then disappears. Nice little haul for very little effort.0 -

It's not about presumption, it's about credible facts, there are none whatsoever and the OP's replies and the way it was apparently dealt with clearly demonstrate that.
More recently (as the site gets more poular) the number of fictitious posts has increased 10 fold, the number of trolls has increased, the amount of spamming has increased, it's school/college/uni holidays which always coincde with these type of posts.
If I went back through every reply I could detail where the OP went wrong but quite frankly I can't be bothered wasting more time on it.0 -
..... seems expensive.. the guy needs to go to a place ooop norf next time lol
You'd need to have downed a lot of ale to want to watch a Nora Batty lookalike lap-dancing :rotfl:

I think this link (similar to the above - sorry) is the start of it all:

See any similarities?
Apologies if this is genuine, but there's more than a few parallels here...
I too sent a fiver from PH.0
