I have had many people report these clubs taking their mobile phones & watches before now when they didn't have enough money to pay the extortionate bills. I work in the West End and it used to be quite rife. The clubs rely on people being too embarrassed to tell anyone/wife finding out etc.

For the record I don't think the OP is lying.

You're right. The embarrassment is crippling initially - I felt such a mug. That, combined with the memory loss, nearly prevented me taking action, but I'm glad I did post here for advice (even if I've given the cynics and comedians in the thread some ammunition), because I have at least found some action I can take myself to try and redress this.

    (And thanks for the support.)

I'll hold my hand up and apologise if I am wrong - if you are genuine then I truly sympathise with your situation

Looking back you should have maybe done things differently, ie reported the 'crime' to the police as soon as you realised what had happened (easier said than done I suppose)

A drugs test the following day may have found traces of something.....again, this is easier said than done given the fact that you were totally embarrassed by the whole thing

Was this a "reputable" club like Stringies, FYEO or Spearmint Rhino? Or a clip joint?

Not sticking up for the OP, but how many of us in hindsight would do things differently, in all honestly you dont really expect it to happen to you. A frined of mine had her drink spiked, she was out with another girl, they got talking to a couple of guys, got parted, my friend obviuosly has no recall, luckly her friend saw her getting into a cab with these two guys, so she jumped into another (as she was staying at my friends house) and follewed them, they pulled up at my friends house, she got out as well as the 2 guys, but as soon as they saw the girls friend, they got back in the cab and left. Even after all that it was only a week later when they put 2 + 2 together and realised what happened.

How many times have we all said "I wish Id of done that differently" as they say hindsight is a wonderful thing.

that's why I said 'easier said than done'

I'd like to see how this turns out.

A friend of mine reported his card stolen when he used willingly 500 quid worth on credit cards in a strip club... he got it for free in the end :P.

None of these. And far from reputable, it now seems...

There's no way I'd willingly pay £500, let alone my actual bill... As I've said earlier, these places aren't my thing at all.

But I'm not going to compound matters by lying to the credit card company - I've told them the truth, insofar as I can recall, and hopefully they'll side with me.

I will keep you posted - should hopefully have a response from the Club tomorrow.

Good luck with it, have you reported the matter to the police, sorry to ask but where does your friend stand in all this, I guess what Im trying to say is will he back you up, its ok him saying now yes, x,y,z happened, but will he follow it through, or has he got to much to lose by admitting to it.
