I love Red Dwarf too! Especially the robot Marilyn Monroe!!;)

Soup is cooking and bread rolls have been shaped and left to prove!!!

DD(14) needs a lift to the school shop for a new jumper so need to dash off before it closes.

Thanks for all the reassuring messages. I do not normally panic but it is horrible when they are so far away and you feel helpless.

Chopping veg and shaping rolls was quite soothing so I feel a bit better.

    Hugs to everyone.

    Afternoon All
Juliejim, that is such a kind offer, but I fear I am nowhere near that slim, thanks anyway. I went to my nearest 'posh' village & had a scrummage through the charity shops, I managed to buy a posh looking peachy coloured linen short sleeve blouse, made by Alex & Co so at a pinch I'll wear that with a cream skirt, I also have a couple of pashminas as I thought we might have to cover our heads.
Thanks for the info Sybil, I did wonder if there was a difference in the bibles.
Celyn, I used to wait til my DS was about to set of for school & then I hum a couple of bars of the Red Dwarf tune & he'd be humming it all day.
I think BIL is bringing his son over tonight, so I've done pizza for tea, I hope he likes it.
    Hugs Hester

    Afternoon!

Feeling very industrious, put gammon and bacon joints into sc so I can slice and freeze them ready for kids sarnies when they return to school, crab and sweetcorn chowder in the hob for oh, his fave, potatoes baked in remoska for lunch, and now a chicken roasting in it so I can strip the meat off it later and freeze in portions!

Girls are just walking the dog, and ds and oh have gone to get some more shingle for the muddy area outside the garage back door, putting paving slabs and shingle down, nothing grows there, heavy clay soil and not a lot of sun, but freezers are in the garage and I need to get to them without resorting to wellies all the time!

I'm going to do some more decluttering and hopefully some baking shortly. Feeling organised today, must be the long sleep last night!

Princess Pixie dust : sorry to hear about Dh’s uncle,,it is a long way to go too

kaat-lady - I have fond memorys of Tunnocks caramel wafers too. They used to sell them at our local grocery shop and if I went shopping with mum and she was in a good mood she would buy me one and to this day I still see them as an enormous treat, and even though I could eat them every day if I chose to, I never do, I only ever buy them when I want to spoil myself... funny how some foods can bring back such strong memories[/quote

Diva its funny the things one remembers isn’t it ,,like smells ,, music ,, etc.. that remind you of something or other

Evil cat is sulking. She was in the garden last night and a little kitten from next door came up to play - and evil cat just fled. It really cheered me up and made up for the disappointing ironing

Sybil...headwear has not been compulsory in Catholic churches apart from the Vatican for about 40 years and I don't think that a rosary worn as a decoration would cut any ice with the priest....Hester, enjoy and tell us all when you come back.

Erm... I did ask if it was a strict Catholic church. I am confident that most are very tolerant, especially of us heathens who are C of E :o but there are always exceptions. There are a few Anglican Churches around that would insist on it as well. I once went to a service in an Anglican Church that the Pope would have thought a bit too formal! I wore a hat to that church, and if I went again I would wear a hat then as well. I've heard that particular church described as 'right off the top of the Holy Candle' and their vicar doesn't know when to stop with incense and Holy Water, far more than other services that I have attended that use them or any Catholic ceremonies I have seen. I got the giggles. I thought the rosary might be a nice gift for the child, especially if the parents thought that it was fashionable and didn't know how inexpensive some of them are.

Many years ago, but less than forty - about twenty five - I visited St Winnifred's Well in Holywell, Wales, with my mother. They would not let her in at all because she didn't have a hat, and suggested that she use a handkerchief to cover her head. (I got the giggles then as well!)

There are always people who prefer rules to common sense.

To be frank, I don't think it matters what sort of Bible you get, unless you think the child may actually take an interest in it AND have strong Views yourself. Given the context I think you should start with Fancy! :D That is if you feel like giving that as a gift.

I'm glad you got something nice to wear, Hester, and I think it is always a boost to have something pretty in the wardrobe, even if you don't wear it often.

Little bear is not napping, he was dropping off on my lap again but wouldn't go to sleep upstairs. He is giggling and chuckling however, so I think I will leave him to it and GET ON WITH THE IRONING.

    :hello: Hello peeps
    (((((((((hugs))))))))) to all in need.
congrats to all with exam results hope they are what you wanted
I havent had time to read though the last of yesterdays thread, or any of todays yet,

I forgot how much time it takes with 2 LO`s to wash, dress, feed and comb hair....yes I do mean hair.....my youngest DGD has the most beautiful long curly hair, but it has a life of its own and not easy to handle, DS2 called in this morning and undid her plait and brushed it through, while youngest LO (age 2) helped me tidy up.

We took them to Cadbury World, and they loved it, we never bought anything in the shop, we used the pass they gave us to go into the staff shop. We bought loads of stuff including packets of biscuits for 25p, Cadburys Brunch bars box of 6 for 75p, 4 double decker bars 50p, creme eggs 5p each, DIL txt me to get her some Cadburys mis shapes, a huge bag for £2.50 goodness knows how much is in it.
They also give out crunchies, curly wurlys and blocks of dairy milk as samples, I think its just to keep the LO`s quite :rotfl:
Will read through this page while I drink my:coffee:then a trip to the park.

  • Afternoon all,

had quite an industrious day so far, had a good clean-out in my kitchen, managed to get my Senseo coffee-maker working again :) Cleaned up the Panny, will investigate how to post it should I ebay it.

Also sorted through a pine "merchants chest" of drawers in my hall, has 14 drawers in total, most of which have been untouched for the last 5 years.. lol!!!!! So most of the contents now fill a black bag. Not much that can be re or freecycled from there. Next on my list is a cupboard in my hall, that I want to try & make space to store things like my slow-cooker in, so it's easy to get at when I want it, but not taking up valuable space in my kitchen cupboards.

DD's all going out to the cinema to see Mamma Mia with their father who is picking them up about 8, so I have an unexpected free couple of hours :)

Hester, glad you managed to get something to wear - I'd still have been tempted to turn up in the brightest outfit I could find..!!! I think you'll have an, er, interesting time from the sound of it. Practice your posing for Ok!! or Hello!!
Pixie, sorry to hear about DH's uncle :(
Elona, I'm sure the girls will be fine - but that doesn't mean you still won't worry until they're home safe.
Betheebee, definitely don't give up hope - I believe it's what gives you the strength to keep being positive...at least he will be having more frequent check-ups too.
Candygirl, wow, well done with the garden, will you come & do mine now ;)
Welcome back Mellika & DLB - lovely to have you back!!! :)
TiredMum, I can't suggest anything constructive unfortunately - well done to your DD though!!!
Mummysaver - Lush do PARTIES??!?!?!? :):) OMG, you've made my day!!!!! My nearest one is Brighton though, but I am off to do some investigating...!!!!!
PurplePrincess, how exciting for you!!!!!! Hope the move goes well, let us know how you're doing when you're back online.
