OS Daily Friday 22nd August

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Friday 22nd August 2008.. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning peeps
I was looking for the thread this morning and couldn`t find it, the penny eventually dropped that it hadn`t been started yet so i thought i`d do it.
I woke up nice and early this morning despite not being able to get to sleep last night, i`m stuck at w*rk on an early shift for the next 7 days and then i get chance to have a lie in and catch up.
All the usual morning things have been done, wm,dw and bm have been on.
I did mean to read the electricity meter when i got up this morning but completely forgot all about it, i`ll have to try and remember to do it as soon as i get home.
Dinner tonight will be roast chicken, stuffing, potatoes and lots of veggies YUM! i`m already looking forward to it.
Offski to do some w*rk now.
Have a lovely day peeps.

Good morning Sunnyday and all who follow.
Well, this will be a quick one for now; when DH is home I get very little time on here and not much done in the house, either!
Congratulations to all those who have had their exam results - well done to you all. Now you can relax and enjoy yourselves after all the hard work and waiting!
(((Hugs))) to Smoky, PenPin, Beth and her DBs, Essex-girl's Dad, Candygirl's Dad, Jayward, Moneysavingdiva's OH and all who need one.
Today is the last day of DS2 and DIL's honeymoon; I can't believe how quickly it has gone by. I shall be glad when they are safely home. My heart goes out to all those who were lost in that dreadful air disaster in Spain. I was so upset to hear that many children were lost and some of the few who survived are asking for their parents. It's heartbreaking.
Well, I supppose I'd better go and have my shower. I need to do food shopping today and put some petrol in the car - I've been running on fumes for most of the week.
Have a great day, everyone. I hope to come back on here more often than I managed to yesterday.

Morning Sunnyday, Mioliere and all who follow
HUGE congratulations to everyone who did well in their GCSE's :T That reminds me I start college in 2 weeks  Just 1 day a week day release from work, but I'm starting to feel the nerves.
Bought DD her plimsolls yesterday £2 so didn't break the bank I'm pleased to say.
MIL has asked me to go round and recover her dining room chairs for her, she's bought some material and has a staple gun - so it shouldn't be too traumatic.
Tea tonight will probably be burgers, nice and easy.
Better go and get showered and dressed and on my merry way to work I suppose  Have a great day everyone.Squares knitted for my throw ~ 90 (yes!!! I have finally finished it :rotfl: )Squares made for my patchwork quilt ~ 80 (only the "actual" quilting to do now :rotfl:)0 -
Morning
Been very busy the past couple of days frantically decorating before the new three piece arrived. I have totally decluttered the lounge and painted it magnolia with a black and white border, and it looks so bare  Maybe it will be better when I get some curtains up. The new suite looks lovely, but isn't as comfortable as the old squishy one - I suppose we will soon get used to it, and adjust the way we sit on it
Work today, and probably a takeaway for dinner.
((( hugs ))) to anyone who needs one xYou're only young once, but you can be immature forever

Morning :hello:
Well I joined Wooligans and wondered what I done to offend people because I didn't get an email, then realised I had my Yahoo set up all wrong
:rotfl: Found the emails in a folder I didn't know I had  I haven't knitted for ages so thought I'd start with a square, nice and easy right? Cept I've forgotten how to purl  I've got a crochet hook somewhere, just need some wool now lol.
Congrats on the GCSE results :T
I need to go shopping today, we don't need much so shouldn't spend many pennies, though mr troo is coming with me so who knows  Just a bit of ironing to do today, and 2 piggy cages to clean. I want to spend at least 2 hours in the garden too.
I was watching Jimmy's on catch-up tv, there was a farm selling organic cherry toms for over £4 per kilo  Please remind me exactly why I stockpiled mine in the freezer? I'm missing out on major dosh lol.I am a coffee bean0 -
Morning everyone,
Congratulations to Miss Twit, Miss squiggly, Miss Penguin and young Taplord on their GCSE results! :j
snowy, sorry to hear you didn't get the job. Hopefully the right one will turn up soon.
rchddap, it's great to read your news about Lilly.
catznine, belated Happy Birthday, I'm glad you had a lovely day.
I had pc problems earlier this week so haven't been about much but thankfully it's all up and running again now. While the pc was being repaired I used dd's laptop and have decided I'd love to get one so if anyone has any recommendations of a brand I'd be grateful. I did ask on the techie board and got some helpful replies but it's a different world over there. _pale_
This morning my first job is to bag up and freeze the 6.5 ltrs of bolognese sauce made in the slow cooker for the freezer that I can convert at a later date into lasagne, and chilli. We'll be eating it forever. Later I'll take ds2 out somewhere. I can't believe the summer holidays are nearly over...ours get nine weeks off and it's gone in a flash. It's just a pity it was such a wet summer and we didn't get to do half the things we'd hoped we would.
Ok, off to make a coffee and get started. I hope you all have a great day.

Morning all
Congrats to those who got their exam results & commiseration to anyone who didn't get what they needed.
A couple of people suggested I go to the christening naked as my skin is a pastel colour, which made me ROTFL.
Someone queried the different faiths, there is a perfectly sensible reason for this, the 1st child was christened in the same chuch that one of the Spice Girls got married in, the 2nd child had the same ceremony that was shown in Hello magazine & no doubt this 3rd ceremony has also been chosen from the same magazine. You see hubby's family aren't stupid, much!!!!!
I'll shut up now, lol and go have a shower before I set off for work.
I hope everyone has a good day.
Hugs Hester

Morning. Mr Rain here again..... 25 consecutive days now and getting pretty fed up with it.... Might get a break today!
Big BBQ planned for tonight with up to 35 people coming. daughters B friend is joining the army engineers and so we are having a send off. Managed to get some chicken cheap at a wholesale place that supplies supermarkets. I guess no one wants BBQ packs and so they were selling 3lb of chicken pieces all coated with bbq flavour for 50p each. 3 quid and I got 18lbs of chicken....:j should feed the masses.
Hoping to get the grass cut later and the hen house cleaned up. Then some shopping.
Well have a nice day wherever you areNO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -
Hi everyone, well woke up to another grey miserable day, it has been drizzling a bit as well. Thank goodness its Friday, I am going to visit my parents in Cornwall next week, cant wait, really feel that we need a break. Hope the weather is a bit better there. Just got to make sure that everything is up to date at work and tidy the house tomorrow. I dont like going away and leaving a mess to come back to. Having sausages and mash tonight. Take care and duddles to all those who need one x0

Morning all!
I am up early due to the OH, but he did sleep better last night, so that is a good sign. No sign of the fat cat this morning yet, I don't think she has worked out that I am awake or I am sure she would be in here hussling for breakfast.
Squiggly Diddly - The silliest thing is that I have some anti inflammatories in the house as I take them when my legs get too painful but when I suggested them to the OH, he said no. However, yesterday after reading your message I 'made' him take one and he did sleep better, so thank you for the suggestion!
wannabe sybil - Treacle is like that with tuna too and chicken.. if we are not careful she would be eating off the same plate as us. However now she is that much older it's harder for her to get on the table so as long as we eat there, we are fairly safe..:rotfl:
Mioliere thanks for the good wishes honey.
Congratulations to Twits daughter, Squigglys daughter, Penguins daughter and young Taplord on their GCSE results! And of course commisserations to anyone who didn't quite get what they wanted.
Catsnine - I am so looking forward to seeing Mamma mia too, I am a very very BIG Abba fan.
Hi Mellika and welcome back to the thread!
Pixiedust - So sorry to hear about your OHs Uncle.
kaat-lady - I have fond memorys of Tunnocks caramel wafers too. They used to sell them at our local grocery shop and if I went shopping with mum and she was in a good mood she would buy me one and to this day I still see them as an enormous treat, and even though I could eat them every day if I chose to, I never do, I only ever buy them when I want to spoil myself... funny how some foods can bring back such strong memories..
Snowy, sorry to hear you didn't get the job. Hopefully the right one will turn up soon.
Big hugs to all who need them this morning and of course congratulations to anyone celebrating a birthday:beer:
