Good morning all!
Melika - welcome back and I hope things are starting to look brighter for you.
Pink - what a nightmare, I have everything crossed for you that it gets sorted out today. Most of us have experienced having no money and it really isn't nice, though I understand that our sympathy won't really help you a great deal, but hopefully we can help by listening to you.
Congratulations to all the teens who have passed exams, well done one and all! Commiserations to anyone who hasn't achieved grades for which they hoped.
Is started out bright here, but looking grey and stormy now, again! Have loaded bm, oh actually put a load in wm, dd2 is folding washing and will be doing the ironing, dd1 has done dw and will be tidying the sitting room. dd3 is washing pans from last night, and will prob be mopping the kitchen afterwards lol! ds will be helping clear more stuff and taking it to the tip with oh later. oh has gone off to collect dd1's blazer and to visit the gym. I'm busy on here!!!
Plans for the day involve boiling gammon joint and then slicing ready for sarnies, which means I shall be hiding it in the freezer. Really need to bake goodies for lunchboxes and freeze these too - keep planning to do it but something always seems to interfere! Need to black bag some more stuff for the charity shops and clothes banks. Will also cook something nice for dinner, was meant to be curry, but might do hm pasta, didn't do it last night as had Mrs M's tortillas, they were fantastic, need to make some more of them so we can have wraps for lunch tomorrow I think.
Didn't make it back again yesterday. Went into Taunton, visited Lakeland and got my slicer, a can crusher (for best friend's dad's bday pressie - he was having the mickey taken out of him as he frantically crushed cans the other day as the recycle men drove up the road, so hopefully he'll think it's funny!), and also some reduced cannisters for tea, etc, that I've been coveting for a while! Reserved a jam maker as well, like the fact that it can made jelly really easily, I find it a real pain leaving it dripping overnight. The lady looked up the delivery as they are out of stock on line as well apparently, think she said 1300 were due for delivery into Lakeland and so for 1035 had been ordered or reserved through the shops! I did wonder if it was all the peeps on here who've been ordering them!
Went into Primark and didn't buy any more clothes, despite the girls finding assorted bargains! I'm trying to clear the junk, not gain more stuff! Did buy the towels I needed though, seem quite nice and thick. Our old towels were developing holes, but then some of them are over 20 years old!
Visited poundland and got some microfibre cloths, couldn't see any pet towels ones though. Needed more as gave mine to a friend who was raving about them! Got ds some body spray, 2 cans for £1, hope he likes it, the speed he uses the stuff at it's just too expensive to get the posh brands!
Bumped into a friend and she'd just left Lush, they do parties, so we are going to organise a grown up nights there, we do quite a lot of evenings out (we being the mums from dd3's class), and this would be something different. It was £15 per head, which includes wine, a goody bag and a £10 voucher to spend there.
I booked a party for dd2 and dd1's birthdays, min was 10 people, so have told them they can each invite 4 friends. £100 seemed pretty good as goody bags are given out each with a £10 voucher! They provide squash and you can take your own nibbles and cake, games are organised and they show the girls how to use the various bits, and do face packs and stuff. Sounded lovely, not that cheap but something nice for the girls, and really I suppose compared to a cinema trip it's not that expensive.
Came home and did Mrs M's wraps, did some chicken in the remoska for the girls who aren't that keen on chilli, and it came out so well, then I fell fast asleep on the sofa! Woke up, put kids to bed and climbed into my bed and fell straight off to sleep again! Must've been more tired than I though, or perhaps had more wine than I thought lol!
Hope everyone has a good day xxGC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -

My toshiba (2000) is looking somewhat battered... that is because it is... the on/off button came off... I use a pencil to turn it on... the screen kept going blank... I unscrewed and fiddled with the connections, lost two of the screws... but it works fine... the USB port ceased to work... so I use a card and double USB extension... there is a large crack in the lid... so what!.. there is a piece missing on the corner... so what...Morning everyone
I've always had toshiba laptops too - they are indestructable. I have one I was given back in 2000 which is still running fine (used daily) and one which is 4 years old that I use as my main computer.
IT WORKS... when it finally goes and I can't mend it myself that is when it goes to the place where broken laptops go.0 -

My old one actually looks newer than the newer one - I think the newer one looked more scratched because it's white so picks up the marks a bit. The only reason I replaced the old one is because some of the software I have to use for work needed a more powerful machine. Most machines get punished as they are used so often and carried around a lot, but these have really stood up to the battering.
I have three machines running on my desk at the moment. Looks like mission control

DD(22) is on holiday in Vietnam and I have been crossing everything I can think of that she does not get malaria etc. etc.. She is now in Hong Kong so I breathed a sign of relief that she is in a developed area and a bit nearer home.
She phoned this morning to tell me not to worry!!!
There is 8 (possibly 10) typhoon hitting Hong Kong and fights have been cancelled so she did not want me to worry if she returned a bit late.
Fortunately they are on the fourth floor of a skyscraper rather than higher and have put a mattress against the windows in case they blow in. The only advice I remember hearing was to stay in the bathroom as it does not have huge windows or furniture that can smash into you.
DH then chirpily asked was not the number 4 unlucky in China!!!!!!
Sitting here with a pot of tea to calm my nerves and the mantra "They are sensible highly intelligent girls!" "They are in a city!" "They will be fine!"
That worked well till I checked the latest news and Hong Kong is completely shut down- stock market, shops , transport etc.
I was about to make a leek and potato soup with home made bread but will calm down a bit first."This site is addictive!"

(((hugs))) Elona, my Dad used to spend a bit of time in Hong Kong in his job and often had to hunker down during typhoons. They are fairly frequent out there but be assured they know how to deal with them and will make sure the girls are ok, they just have to follow all the advice. Our days are happier when we give people a bit of our heart rather than a piece of our mind.
