All these problems were started by the EU saying that Sky Sports shouldn't have all the football coverage, and splitting it up would be to the advantage of football fans!

So instead of paying an extra £50 per year for Prem Plus, I have been paying £120 and then £156 per year for Setanta. Where's the advantage?

Add to this all the problems with cancelling........

I was given notice of redundancy a day after my Setanta payment went through, so they effectively want me to give 2 months notice!
I... left... my.... heart  innnnnn San Francisco
• I have had nothing but problems with Top Up TV since October last year.

See my diary and blog here www. topuptvisterrible.blogspot.com for the full story.

Despite sending them 3 letters recorded delivery, asking them for the money they owed me, and demanding they stopped taking money from my account, they recently started taking money, again.
They then had the audacity to send me a letter asking why payments had stopped.

I have now had to open a new bank account and close my old one. This was what my bank advised me to do. Customer Service advice at my bank said they were unable to stop Top Up TV taking payments from me as I had given them my debit card details. I was hit with some charges for failed direct debits when I changed accounts but it was worth it to stop Top Up TV stealing money from me. It's all very well someone on here saying don't worry , it will be easy to cancel if you do what your supposed to,but this has not been my experience, or that of many others.

Top Up TV / Setanta are the scummiest, scuzziest company I have ever encountered, and I urge people to avoid them like the swine flu - they are truly dreadful.

I cannot wait for the day when they finally go bankrupt and they only have themselves to blame.

I sent Setanta an email 8am on 13th May, which is 30 days before my next billing date of 12th June (not quite sure why it has moved forward a day for next month). Aren't I right in saying you need to give 30 days notice, which is what I have done. So why are they asking me for another full months payment on 12th June? Am i right in insisting that I shouldn't be making a payment on 12th June?

shrubbers - the terms state that it is 30 days notice from next billing date
• My first billing date was 20th and then it was 13th and now it is going to be 12th, is that right? Is it cheeky to say that I gave notice on the morning of my billing date before I'd actually been billed, so you could say that the next billing date was that day?

i got 3 months free setanta with talktalk phone and broadband. and as i am a pesoiner i could noy afford the £9.99 after the free period would be up.
i phoned setanta after and about a week and informed them about this and they gave a date to contact them to cancel, which i did and i was disconnected after the three months.
i should imagine that talktalk only pass my bank details [not my credit card ] till after the 3 months were up,thats why i had no problems canceling. this all took place 18 months ago.
last november i got a call from setanta asking if i would like to subscibe again. i told this ###### i cant afford it,and he said as i was an old subscriber i could have it for £5.00 a month and there was no contract and i could cancel any time i wished. asthis semed a good deal i would
take up the offer.
a few days later i noticed that £11.00 had been withdrawn from my account by setanta so i phoned them and asked why and was told they always take 2 months at the start.
iaked how does 2 months at £5.oo make £11.00 and it was £5.50.
ithought its only 50p more and said to this lady thats still a good deal
then then she said that price was only for the first 3 months.
you can imagine i was not at all pleased being tricked into subscribing
by some who was no doubt on commision for making phone sales.
i told i was cancelling this very moment, you cant said she, you have to give [i think] 30 days its part of the contract.
as i was lied and tricked into suscribing i told her no contract exst cancel
i again told her, i cant cancel you its not the right department she informed me. so i insisted she put me through to some who would, anyway
i managed to speak to someone who could and went through what had happend to him and insisted cancell he said he would but would i send a email to request@setanta.com telling them what had happend.
i then stopped the direct debit and thought that was the end of it but stiil
getting setanta 4 months later, must be some sort of compensation i thought for being messed about.
6 months on now getting mail asking for bank details ,put note in with letter saying have cancelled, but they keep coming
i will not ring there 087 Nbr and get robbed being put on hold.
now ive had a call by a nasty bit stuff who did not want to listen to anything i said.he he got me so mad he only wanted to know my bank detals he never got as to threaten me with debt collectors as i cut the
c#### off
he will be back.i think the only reason they wait 6 months to contact you so youi owe them more money cos as they could have turned off the
signal months ago ,but i am still getting it.
