Legally they can't take more money out without letting you know, I'd call back and speak to a supervisor. Best of luck!

just got a £600 bill from them, usually its £200, i thought there was a mistake but it seems after a long while theyve actually taken a real meter reading so the differene to their expected and actual was pretty large hence the massive bill
also the prices have gone up, but hey on the brightside i should have enough clubcard points for a trip to paris!!0 -
sorry it took so long to thank you, but it was very helpful.
i spoke to my bank manager this time who said he would recall my money if needed, but i also spoke to powergen this time i was ale to speak to someone a little nicer after stateing my case to about 6 people they finaly agreed "to look in to my case" but i was told it would take several weeks to sort out.
not being to happy with that i threatened to report them for this unless my money and bank charges were refunded by the end of the week.
on friday morning i noticed that my money and banks charges had been put back in my bank account by powergen now i just need to deal with the issue of this £700 bill but seeing as i have cancelled my dd i will have to pay at the post office which may take a little longer but at least i know my money is once again safe.0 -
Good on you, yay!!0

LSM wrote:I switched to npower a month ago becos powergen are rubbish. Got a call from npower saying we were moving back to powergen (would we stay call) as they said powergen were requesting on my behalf that I wanted to move back. I've not had any form of contact from them at all! Npower are putting through an objection at the mo!
I was also with Npower and powergen managed to cancel my npower account twice without a single letter or anything. I never spoke to anyone at powergen or sign any forms to consent it  and when
I phoned up the india call centre, firstly I got told I wasn't with them and to phone transco who then told me I was with Powergen and then when I phoned back again I was hung up on!
I've now transferred to British Gas  but I don't know if thats a good move either!
Powergen are rude :eek:0 -
i am having probs with powergen at the moment  i only switched as they were cheaper on the comparison site and i could get clubcard points too. i am on token meters as they were in the house when i moved in (dont owe any money on them) i asked for them to be removed but powergen insisted i had to keep them for the first year i am with them so they can work out a monthly payment based on my usage.they didnt tell me i had to register both gas and electric seperately with the clubcard too so ive only had my electric getting points.
Anyway for 10 weeks from nov 05 i put £220 in my gas meter ,i thought it was a bit too much and when my next bill came in i was £58 in credit so i said i wanted it back only to be told i wasnt really in credit as they didnt have an up to date reading so i gave them one and a week later got a bill saying i was £79 in credit so i phoned them for my money back. First off he said i was being undercharged then he agreed that i was being overcharged and i needed a new card with new settings on it.i got my newcard and £20 is now lasting me up to 2 wks instead of 1 wk like before.I then emailed them asking for my credit back and got one back saying i havent paid any electric since oct 05  .Now seeing as i have a token meter i cant 'not' pay it.They said i'm using the wrong card but its the one they sent me,the only one ive got and they were getting payments fine before .I reckon they are wanting to offset my gas credit by saying i owe them for the leccy. They asked for my receipts and i said no way where they getting them as they would a) lose them or b) say they never got them .I then got a phone call 'hello this is christian i am calling from powergen' said with the heaviest indian accent i have ever heardsaying ok i could send photo copies of my receipts but i couldnt have my gas credit as it isnt really credit .I told him i was changing back to british gas as soon as my year with them is up .I checked online this morning as my new bill is here and i am £125 in credit on the gas and £211 in arrears on the leccy and i only can find £165 worth of receipts
I wish i had never changed in the first place

I stupidly switched to them in january this year, Well, I say I switched, all I got was three sets of daily correspondance that confused the life out of me and then British Gas blocked the transfer.
On top of the 3 sets of account details and correspondance, I got daily calls from an indian call centre (Becuase they registered 3 separate accounts under my address) and when I tried to sort it out with them, every person I spoke to was incomprehensible.
So at the moment all I have is my electricity with them. How soon switch again? Is there a time limit on sticking with someone?0 -
just switched from these theives.
had both gas and electricity from them, Gas by DD and leccy by bill.... well i say bill
bailiff letter more like. bills where sent in this order... red letter 1 month after after supposed origonal date of bill, Bailiff letter 2 days later ... never recieved actual bill...
was paying £10 for gas for the last 12-14 months (forget exact time, but it was a couple of months after moving to powergen after moving in)
This month i've had £577 go out 2 weeks before the normal date of the DD. which has GOT to be a mistake - as thats a min (if we where under paying gas) of 577/18 (18 month max amount of time after moving into house we switched to powergen) = £32 per month + £10 DD = £42 or 577/12 (12 months since DD started) + 10 DD = £58
and theres no way we're spending £50-60 a month on Gas on a 2 bed back2back mid terrace with combined boiler running for 7hrs a day in winter.2009 wins: Signed Saxon CD, Solar Torch, Drumsticks, Priest Feast Tix, Watch, Hammerfest tix :beer:0 -
add to the above that the £577 has been taken from our bank account without us recieving any bill and without our authorisation. Surely this is illegal?2009 wins: Signed Saxon CD, Solar Torch, Drumsticks, Priest Feast Tix, Watch, Hammerfest tix :beer:0
