Is anyone having problems updating their meter readings? I tried to update my electricity readings in November sometime but after about three weeks i gave up, emailing them instead to complain. They agreed they were having problems with the website, and told me i could email the readings to them and they would update my account. I emailed them with the readings and i got a response on the 19th of December saying that the readings were going through their billing system and my account would be updated within 4 days. I am still waiting. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Having problems with Powergen? surely not.
Friend of mine south of the border down mexico way was sent his quarterly bill by powergen. He then got sent a threatening letter 2 weeks later instead of the red bill. He was of course, as a good Scotsman, using the old accountant's trick of delaying payment as long as possible while the money gathers interst. He rang them up and demanded to know where the red bill was. He got a load of flannel from the woman on the other end, so he wanted to know the number of energywatch. She said she didn't know it, so he asked to be put through to someone who did know it. She told him that no one knew it, so he asked to be put through to her superviser. After growing the best part of a Z Z Top beard he was told that the superviser was on the phone and could she ring him back sometime. He slammed the phone down, went on the internet, and had the energywatch site up in 30 secs. You can complain online. He got two letters: one from energy watch and a load of written flannel from powergen. What they did say in the letter - and this is the interesting bit - is that as a matter of routine anyone who is slow in paying (i e all the accountants out there as well as the poor) is sent a threatening letter instead of a reminder invoice. He then received another letter from powergen telling him that if he did not pay up they would hand over the matter to a debt collection agency, and this agency, so said the letter, had the power to turn off his electricity. Looks like powergen have lost another customer.
I agree it will be good to see Eon and Scottish Power going down the S-bend together.Small change can often be found under seat cushions.

PoerGens online billing, and website in general, is rubbish. The website is completely down right now. When its working it shows I am still with them for gas, despite switching away a month ago. That is, the switch went through a month ago, the switch was started nearly two months ago.

2 weeks ago i resived a letter from powergen saying that gas costs have risen driving up wholesale costs affecting all suppliers in the industry. Saying could i pay them £2230.06 now or if not convienient i could pay £288.00 a month for 9 months to clear the out standing balance.
We pay by direct debit and have since we have lived here i knew the prices had gone up but evan i wasn`t expecting that.
Thankfully i took meter readings before calling and am now £455.00 in credit.0 -
I have had problems with Powergen too. Was paying £70 p.c.m for dual fuel then I got this letter saying I owed £180!
I was going to write them a letter but instead insisted that I talked to the supervisor. We have negotiated that I pay £100 which seems fair. I have moved to N power now.
Pointed out that I have lived in the same house for 22 years and that their communication was cr*p. Fond of sending red letters before the preliminary ones. Their staff aren`t very good which adds to the problem. I`m hoping things will be easier now!0 -
They are now featured in our evening paper almost daily as more and more people come foward with complaints about widely inaccurate billing !
Now an anglia tv news presenter`s mother has had a silly bill (in her 80`s)
Looks like they are in for another rough year.
what a shame - NOT !!0 -
My billing is in a right mess with them, who do I write to at Powergen to sort it out, or is there no point, should I just move to a better billing company?Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0
