I've had my panny breadmaker for a while and am quite happy with the results but I'd love to be able to make bread like the Tesco Finest unsliced white loafs. The crust is much softer than when I make bread following the booklet and the inner part of the bread is also softer.
Any hints or tips? I usually use Dove flour and the yeast that comes in an orange packet.
Thanks in advance!
I bought a wooden bread bin from Wilkos & the crust does soften up when the bread has been in there a while...
I haven't tried making twice the amount of pizza dough yet..probably forget to do it next time we have them toobut if I remember, I'll be sure to let you all know

Hi Maz
there is a recipie for apricot and walnut bread on page 26 of my panasonic SD253 manual. It is a basic white bread recipie with 3oz chopped apricots and 2oz chopped walnuts.
I tend to ignore the recipies and add various things to either wholemeal or white bread recipies. Just adding the extras to the nut dispenser and baking on "raisin" programme. They say to chop the nuts finely but I never do, I just do a large rough chop, and put all the extras in the nut dispenser (usually filling it). Walnut and rosemary bread has always turned out well, I use fresh rosemary from the garden roughly chopped, about a quarter to a third rosemary to the rest walnuts, you'll see what looks right. This is nice in a 50% wholemeal mix. Sundried tomato(in olive oil) with rosemary is also nice, I use the oil in the jar instead of butter. In fact I always use some sort of oil instead of butter - I substitute 30ml olive oil for 1oz butter.
Hope this helps! Good Luck, Ann0 -

Thanks Ann that is all good to know. I need to start trying out different added ingredients.
I've just started 'easy Ciabatta' and i'll try 'Sundried Tomatoes and Parmesan' in the morning as i've only got dried so i'll have to get some in oil.Kind Regards

There's a 'Sundried Tomato and Parmesan' recipe in the SD255 manual, if you haven't already got a copy, you can download it at this SD255 Breadmaker website.
Seems to be a good price comparison list on the Panasonic models to, if anyone is thinking of buying...0 -

I haven't used bread mix before but have bought a packet of the Hovis Granary bread mix but I am not sure which setting to put it on. It says use the 2lb wholewheat loaf. I usually only make a sandwich mix with 14oz flour which is the perfect size for the 2 of us. I am concerned that the packet mix will give us a very large loaf. Can anyone advise if this is the case?0

Thanks for the link - I've had my panny for over 3 years now and this manual has obviously been updated - have had a quick look through it and see that the focaccia recipe now says 170ml water whereas my manual says 200ml - that's quite a difference.....anyone else noticed this?
Edited to say all the\water measurements have been reduced, and so have the flour measurements.....People Say that life's the thing - but I prefer reading

In the earlier manuals they also say you can use dried sundried tomatoes if you soak them in oil before using, this is very good to know as Tesco have 100g for 99p whereas in oil the cheapest i could find was £2.58Kind Regards
