Morning friends. I got a text from dear Nelski saying that she had posted about our loss. I am sorry that I have not been around for a bit-we had connection problems followed by the modem giving up the ghost. This is modem number 3 but is at least working.
Anyway, you have all been so kind and concerned about Phoebe and her ups and downs I will fill you in. We were(and still are)delighted with the new vet and he was fairly sure that the problem was a severe infection rather than something nasty(based on blood results) She had an injection and we had to take her back the next day-wonderful results and vet delighted. Given a course of anti-biotics (28 days) and things seemed ok. During that period she became "unwell" nothing definate just not quite as right as she had been. We took her back last Tuesday and the vet was very worried. But...STILL nothing showing up however her liver was enlarged and she was showing some early signs of heart failure. Steriod injection, foreticor and direutic(sp)then home (with a provisional appointment to have her put to sleep the following Tuesday). She was like a different cat, eating slightly better and more alert. We noticed a strange sound when she was eating(we have ALWAYS suspected something wrong with her mouth) back to vets (Thursday) doing very well, another appointment on Sat great results, more meds(more of same) and "the" appointment cancelled.
All was ok, Monday night she slept on the bed like she used to and htings were great. Yesterday day she seemed tired but ok, then DH went to give her the evening tablets(about 10pm)and came down saying we may have a problem. Phoebe had taken her tablets but was falling asleep straight away and didn't seem right. Anyway, we made the decision to sit up with her and to see how things went(if things got really bad we are less than 15 minutes from hte night vets)we held her in our arms, stroked her, takled and sang to her and at 4.35 my beautiful, gentle girl slipped away. She had a beautiful death no pain(to be totally honest we wern't 100% sure she had gone for a bit. She just looked as though she was sleeping)
We will never know what it was, doesn't matter now but at the end she didn't suffer. She deserved that.
Can I say thank you to everyone who has always asked about my Phoebe the most gentle, loving and beautiful cat i have ever had the luck to know. I will post and read later. Cnat say any more, thank you all os much. Ann XXXXXXBlind as you run...aware you were staring at the sun.
And when no hope was left inside on that starry starry night.

Morning all,
Well it's a bit later for me and I'm posting just as I"m off to bed.
Just wanted to wish Elona a happy birthday & Donny-Gal one for Friday. I started DGS superhero cape this afternoon and he made me finish it. I had to stop for tea which he grudgingly consented.
Will post the pics tomorrow as I can't be bothered atm.
Was freezing here this morning. DH has tomorrow off due to a show holiday.
Annie Sorry to hear about Phoebe. It's always hard to lose a pet. They are so much a part of our family. <hugs>

Elona - still pretty cool to get a happy birthday though! My cool rating went up massively with my kids when the older two were really into Green Day, a mate of mine is a session musician and came to stay bearing assorted signed and personalised GD stuff for them! They decided that I might have once had a life before them lol!
Pink - I know this is prob something you've already done, but aside from the normal job agencies have you tried the catering ones, they almost always have stuff immediately, especially at this time of year when people have gone on hols. Hope things get better for you soon xGC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -
Morning All (just!)
Haven't posted for a week or so I don't think but hope everyone's well. Day off work today so more time for this kind of thing
OH's gone out to help his friend sort out his shed/garden then they'll be coming to sort out ours (made a start on strimming after work on Monday but it keeps raining so it's taking time!)
My plans for today:
Finish sorting our bedroom (done most of it this morning so just a few things left to do)
General tidy and hoover downstairs
Then need to find a recipe to make a yummy birthday cake for my brother (it's his 30th birthday on August 27 but both he and my mam are both away then so she's having a party for him on Sunday). Both my brother and OH had a whinge last week cos I always bake the same cake. So I need to find a new cake to bake and have a practise run today!
And I need to go to my friend's house as she's going to cut my hair (it's been over a year!)
Just received a £25 garden voucher through the post so may take a trip to the garden centre this afternoon too
Happy Birthday's where needed and have a Wicked Wednesday everyone :jSmall business owner 🧵 Ex MSE comper 🏆 Student loan repayer 💴 Romanian dog rescuer 🐕 Hopefully a cost of living survivor 🤞🏻0 -
Afternoon everyone
I wont lie to you, I am not late on here because I have been doing loads of OS stuff. I am late because I slept late, then laid in bed reading.
I have done nothing.
to Elona and DonnyG for friday.
(((hugs))) for Anniestar and for anyone else who is not feeling 100%
I have yet another interview tomorrow
, I feel like a jobbing actress constantly going for auditions. Am at a loss to know what people really want. I can touch type, have worked in offices for over 30 years, have qualifications in wordprocessing, excel, powerpoint and access
I am now going to
1) have a shower and get dressed
2) empty the DW
3) Hoover right through
4) dust everywhere
5) take a walk down to where the interview is tomorrow so I know where I am going (this will only happen if the rain stays away)
But before I do all this I need another

Hi all.
Mummysaver - thanks for your comments about my posts!
Catz - thanks for your comments about the wedding!
AnnieS - sending lots of (((hugs))) to you. Phoebe had a gentle death with loved ones around her.
Dogrose - what a horrid day you had!
Floss - you can't go wrong with the little black dress and a few simple accessories plus a wrap which always makes any dress look classy.
Silvercharming - I'm so glad your Dave is well enough to complain about his food!
Happy Birthday to Master Mary!
Well, the weather is absolutely horrendous - typical for April! It's blowing a real gale and the rain is spattering against the windows. DH just popped back for something he had forgotten (what's new?!) and gave me a lift to the shops and back; I was going to walk up to save petrol but he saved me the walk.
I have cooked the rice pudding in the Remoska and the chicken legs (not together!) and cleaned it ready for tonight's dinner.
I have also successfully fixed my energy prices with E.On and they are sending me their energy monitor as well so I shall really look forward to getting that. I fixed it online and was amazed to find that I am £135 in credit so the money-saving things I am doing like using the Remoska, switching off unnecessary lights, using two lamps in the sitting room instead of three and so on, must be having an effect. Now to tackle the water usage now that they are threatening to increase the cost of that, too. I already have shallower baths and shorter showers and, now that there's only the two of us, I don't need to use my WM every day. It must be so hard for those of you with children still living at home, with all these increases in the cost of basic essentials.
Well, I'd better go and have some lunch; sausage sandwiches with sausages left over from yesterday's dinner.
See you all later.

Afternoon all :hello:
Well now, here I am back in Yorkshire and getting sorted with life
We had a great couple of days in Filey last weekend where I got to help out with the British Divers Marine Life Rescue giving a demo of how to rescue a stranded dolphin. It was nice to go back to where we used to holiday when I was a kid (almost 40 years ago  ) and walking past the house that we used to "B+B" in brought it all back
. As I get settled, I'm hoping to get more involved with the local group of the BDMLR, and quite fortiuotusly (sp?) they've got a stall at the Hull "Sea Shanty Festival" next month so that might be me out again :j
Job-wise, nothing's happened yet but I've an interview on Friday at a local engineering firm and an interview to arrange at a firm near Bridlington. I've also registered with the local driving agencies so fingers crossed.
Hope all are okay and my thoughts are with anyone who isn't.
Man try

Just had a lovely trip to the park wiv the doglets, my friend and her Son who adores them.I am sick of daft people letting their massive offlead dogs run up to my little ones, when they're on the lead.It scares them, they bark and then everyone tuts cos they're staffies:mad:   It's like us having a 20 ft giant running up to us, but the dimwits can't see it:rolleyes:  They are little angels usually until this happens:A"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

Anniestar, I am so sorry on your loss but I am impressed at how well you looked after your dear friend right until the end.
Does anyone know an inexpensive way of making an oil burner. In the winter I usually put a few drops of oil in a little cup of water and then put that on top of the fire, but it doesn't really apply at the moment. My darling husband has a sore chest and I think some olbas oil in the air would help. I was wondering about using one of those little half sized tins that baked beans come in for little bears, perhaps with holes in the sides, but I have no idea about what to use for the oil or oil and water.
Or should I just accept my limitations and get an inexpensive burner from somewhere like Wilkinsons?
Well, I have washed, I have unplugged things, I have fed little bear, I have had at least two phone calls from my uncle which have eaten up around an hour and a half and now little bear is finally having a nap I can unfortunately hear the ironing calling. Sigh.Ankh Morpork Sunshine Sanctuary for Sick Dragons - don't let my flame go out!0
