stefejb it sounds like DD is having a great time on her "adventure holiday":D

Kathy I know what you mean about mums putting themselves last, I think its inbred, it never occurs to us to do anything else, but if we have to we feel guilty....all part of being a mum I suppose.....;)

Floss I would wear the dress like others have said, and treat myself to a bright colourful wrap/pashmina with beads or some thing on to jazz it up, a nice bag (not a huge one) and strappy heels. :T

silvercharming good news sounds like Dave is really on the mend now :D

Today`s been really odd ; we don`t really know what to do with her. She`s currently curled up in her basket on our bed and if you didn`t know the truth you`d swear she was asleep . We still expect her to stretch and yawn as usual .
. I`m thinking of something sparkly and glittery which is not my taste at all but would be very fitting for this lovely little friend of ours .

Thanks for all your support and I hope you have happy times ahead.
    Take care ,
    Mark

Awww what a lovely post, hugs to to you both what a hard time you are having. Perhaps you could put her in the garden with a nice plant to mark her, you can get a plant called Phoebe, which would be fitting, hugs to you both xx

    Afternoon all,

Annie....thanks for the post...good to know that Phoebe died naturally.

KAAT...poor Archie, we had a dog accidentally poisoned some years ago, caused anaemia but vet was able to bring her out of it....there are lots of things around which are dangerous for animals, so hope that it is not poison.

Happy birthday to Elona and to Donnygal for Friday:bdaycake::bdaycake:

DD2 and her girls just arrived back from their week away, so all hell has broken loose here!

Hugs to all who need or want them

Does anyone know an inexpensive way of making an oil burner. In the winter I usually put a few drops of oil in a little cup of water and then put that on top of the fire, but it doesn't really apply at the moment. My darling husband has a sore chest and I think some olbas oil in the air would help. I was wondering about using one of those little half sized tins that baked beans come in for little bears, perhaps with holes in the sides, but I have no idea about what to use for the oil or oil and water.

    Hi wannabe sybil

I have done a quick tour of my oil burners and they are made of various materials, one glass (for best :rotfl: ) one terracotta, one ceramic and one copper. You could improvise a burner (foil pie dish springs to mind) but I think I would worry with a small bear in the house. ;)

Other tricks to try from my holistic therapy training are filling a bowl with boiling water, adding your oil and leaving in a room with the doors shut. Probably very effective for your DH if you placed in in your bedroom half an hour before bedtime. Another is to light a candle and blow it out just as the wax begins to melt. Very carefully (don't get any oil on the wick) add the oil to the melted wax and relight your candle. (Scented candles for the cost of ordinary ones ;) ) You can also add one drop of oil to a cold, turned off light bulb - you need to be steady handed one drop is all you should add. I fragrance my bedroom with Sandlewood essential oil on the lamps, not had a problem yet, but essential oils are flammable so great care should be taken.

Answered the door earlier and my DDs have arranged for a huge bouquet of flowers to be delivered - roses, lilies, carnations and pinks - I needed two vases or as DH calls them - "jars!":j

I am so sorry about your nan.

    Mr anniestar

How about a beautiful rose bush with a film starry name.

LyndseyAnn, :grouphug: the best of my love to you and to your nan. Don't ever worry about 'bringing the thread down', we are all here to support each other however we can, and bottling it up and putting on a brave face isn't healthy. Big hugs xxxx

Anniestar and hubby, I'm thinking of you both :grouphug: pets are wonderful part of our families, it hurts so much when they leave us and it's not 'just' a cat you have lost, it's a dear, dear friend. You did everything you could for Phoebe, right until the end, even though it was hard for you. You should be very proud that you gave her such a beautiful life.
I agree with redruby, a nice pretty plant named Phoebe is a lovely memorial. There are plenty of different types named Phoebe:

Perhaps if not a plant named Phoebe, maybe catnip? My sister in law commemmorated her cat's life by planting her plant in a terracotta plant pot, the pot was painted with her cat's name, it lives on the edge of her patio in the spot where Suki used to sunbathe.

Kaat, I am thinking of you and Archie too :grouphug: I really hope that the neighbours aren't poisoning him. Could anyone be so awful as to do that? Do hope the vet can help make him better :grouphug:

Sybil, I put olbas onto a hanky inside the pillow for Dave - maybe try that?

Hi again - Mark that was a lovely post and I think the idea of a plant in phoebes name is fantastic - you will never forget her of course a plant will only serve to remind you how special she was too you. I hope you are both OK and taking care of each other too:o

    hugs

Hi everyone, hope the weather isn't getting you down.

Anniestar and hubby (((hugs))) it's very hard to lose a pet, we lost our lovely Persian boy last September after his kidneys packed up. He was in distress and we chose to take him to the vet for his passing, but we held him and stroked him until he'd gone. It was the hardest thing I've ever had to do, it seemed to impact on me more than when my dad died 19 years ago. You'll miss your lovely girl but the happy memories will rise to the surface.

Elona - happy birthday for today! And Donny-gal, best wishes to you for Friday.

I know there are a lot of people in need of hugs at the moment, I'm thinking of you all. (((((hugs tight)))))

I'm on Facebook and posted in the thread there, so if people would like to friend me that's great. And for "buddy" purposes I'm in Erith, Kent (but hoping to move before the end of the year).

Hang in there folks! (((more hugs)))
