Morwenna - thank you for your really helpful post. It has set my mind working. The idea with the candles once little bear has gone to bed would be ideal. I'm not too steady when it comes to drops of oil, so the bulb would not be a good idea. When I 'add a few drops' I have a habit of treating the oil bottle like a vinegar shaker in a fish & chip shop.

I was thinking one of those little tins of baked beans, with holes around the base, the paper taken off and perhaps a pattern of pierced holes, with one of the cleaned foil trays that evil cat's food comes in on top. As it is a foil container it could be squished to size. Evil cat is getting the foil trays because she is always begging frantically for food as if she is on the brink of collapse from starvation then once I put it down she sniffs at the revolting stuff and walks away. It is easier to give her two teaspoons of food from a foil tray than a proper tin or pouch. The prima donna performance I get when it is merely dried food would win any Oscar. However that in no way reflects the amount she steals!
My darling, dratted husband, when I said that we could do with a burner said that every time there was a problem I immediately went to buy something. My instincts were to immediately say, you're absolutely right, I'll pick up a really nice one on Saturday (though actually I just smiled) and I am strongly tempted to go back to this idea.
Kaat Lady, I do hope that Archie is alright. I probably won't be on again today, but I will be thinking of you.
Silvercharming - I am so glad that Dave is feeling better. Isn't it reassuring when they start to be awkward
I need to start tea. What has been planned is the very dregs of the chicken heated up with fried onion and mushrooms with condensed mushroom soup and rice. However little bear hasn't eaten much at all today, and I don't feel like eating anything so it may mean fish fingers with peas and smash for little bear and my darling husband (who is a fish finger enthusiast) and I can finish off the chicken in a sandwich later if I can face it or perhaps donate it to the evil cat who is trying to sit on the keyboard. Or perhaps some meat for my little bear, I have some grill steaks in that were on offer... I am gradually weeding out all the silly food I have used in the past, but I might as well use up what I have.Ankh Morpork Sunshine Sanctuary for Sick Dragons - don't let my flame go out!0 -

Could be! Did you also get very over-excited on finding it?
Omg yes!!! You obviously haven't read the pepper and chilli threads over in the greenfingered section because I get ridiculously over excited when something starts to fruit!! As far as my lil tomato went, I insisted my OH went upstairs to find the camera so I could take a photo of it. (Well, more than one actually as I wanted to get the right angle..:o ) So yes, I have been known to squeal and call everyone around to come admire my new babies...:rotfl:
What's a Goji berry and did I ought to have one?
Ok, so a Goji berry is a plant that grows goji berries... *chuckles*. Ok, I have never eaten one but apparently they are the new chic super berry that all the celebs are eating.. I will put a link at the bottom of this post for you. I read that they were fairly easy to grow in the Uk so I thought it might be a good money spinner if indeed it did, so I invested in a plant in the spring - which wasn't cheap - and to my suprise it seems to like me and is over 5ft tall now, tho not very bushy! I decided to experiment with cuttings because I figured that if other people out there wanted one, I could undercut Mr Suttons etc. 'Course, my grand plans haven't got any further than that and they won't fruit til next summer, but I am thinking if I get some more cuttings going a boot sale later this month might be in order if we ever get any sunshine!

So yes, you should definately have one and if you wait a month or so I will hopefully have some more cuttings and we can arrange to send you one.
Hi to Treacle from an over-tired (how????
) and yawning Leo![/quote]
I am sure Treacle would say hi to Leo if she could be bothered opening her eyes long enough to look at me. So far, the only time she moved in the last 4 hrs has been when my OH came home and she climbed off the desk to have some more food. Eating all that breakfast must have exhausted her!
So yes, I think we should discuss how we were seperated at birth... :rotfl:

Evening all
It has been blowing a gale here today and intermittently sunny and tipping it down. I have never known it to be like this in august. Have no idea if my sweetcorn at the allotment has survived.
ANNIESTAR sorry to hear about Pheobe, hugs to you both.
KAAT-LADY hope Archie is Ok
LYNDSEYANN welcome back, sorry to hear about your Nan, hugs to you.
CANDYGIRL big hugs to you and your Dad, will he not speak to the hospice team about his pain? If the breakthrough pain is happening often, he may need his meds tweaking. They can also add other pain meds that won't be morphine-based. Also have you had had any support at all? Really feel for you.
MARTYN good luck with the job hunt.
Got my car back, it cost me £90 as he managed to get my alternator mended. That's the third thing now so hopefully that's it.
We are off out dancing in a bit with DS, to a late gig. Will grab something to eat on the way.
Have a good night all.
