Jeez, what is the world coming to. It's absolutley ridiculous retailers starting their 'back to school' deals in June, nothing will fit by September, are times really that desperate for M&S and Asda.

It's all fine and dandy if you have average size children who grow at an average rate, but what about the rest of us who have tall skinnies, petite shorties and rotunds, who may or may not have another growth spurt in the next 3 months.

Rant over, I'll get my coat.:o

Actually, I never minded them starting their 'back to school' deals early, what irked me was the impossibility of buying more trousers if they had a growth spurt at Easter! :rotfl:

Hello all, don't think I've posted on this board before but need some help pretty quickly :-)

I'm about to order my sons school jumpers but the sizes are in inches whereas all the clothes I've bought him before are sized in ages.... The sizes are 24, 26, 28 inches etc which I'm guessing means chest size...? Assuming thats right then when I measure him do I take the exact measurement or add a bit on?

I'm really stuck here so any advice would be really gratefully received as I need to take the order form into the school today.
    Many thanks again

Hi i did my dd's a couple of nights ago for secondary and found the same thing! they had 11-12 then inches but they did have in amongst the sizes 13yrs so we have ordered that and if it doesn't fit we can send it back. I would measure round his chest and add a little on..don't go for the exact size as there will be no room to grow! of course all clothes vary so hard to tell.
    How old is he?

Thanks. He is 4; going into P1 (not sure what you call in England but first year of primary). Think I will get the second smallest one & maybe ask the school secretary when I drop the form in....

Our DS is due to start pre-school in September. He'll be 3 in August and still quite small (he is still comfortably wearing 18-24 month clothes for some things and very few 2-3 years fit). We've bought him the school uniform but it starts at 3-4 years and just swamps him (we'll be keeping it as he'll be going there for reception with any luck in a years time). I've tried Asda and Tesco but all their polo shirts start at 3-4 aswell.

Can anyone suggest where we can get cheap polo shirts (red preferable) in size 2-3, grey trousers are also needed probably smaller again?

    Thanks guys.

Sometimes you get trouserss in 23 in asda its just a case of keep looing. I had this trouble with the youngest and that was the only place I could get them. I had to get 3-4 in tshirts though x

I got DD4 some from BHs.. their age 3 is very tiny.. mine has growth hormone deficiency so is very small .. she was wearing 18-24 month stuff as well at that age.

Though they don't HAVE to wear uniform so just getting any clothes and calling them his school clothes is fine.
