I found that although pricy, Next shirts wear well and don't lose their shape either, as long as they still fit they do last a good while :)

I would give Asdas another chance and if they do not last well return them to the shop under their new 100 returns policy

This is on line xmaslolly - they never have the right size in store. My DD has to wear a blazer too even in this weather! At Asda you can have free instore delivery for orders over £25. Was thinking about the 100 day guarantee, and trying asda again, will have to wait for September to buy though or the 100 days will be up before she wears them enough to see! Do you know if they have all the range available on line all year?

I've been buying the M&S ones for my dd for a few years now, and yes, they're pricey, but I've found they last really well. I've actually just chucked some out that have done her through 2 full school years, so cost per wear is pretty low.

Sorry, I can't really answer the question but wanted to add a couple of thoughts:

    1) We buy all our uniform from M&S, including the shirts you mention. Everything always lasts until they are too small and for two children; nothing ever wears out. So we are on third year running for shirts, which will last another few until they are handed down to someone else. I'm really surprised you have noticed wear after only one year.

    2) The Asda ones might still work out cheapest if this is your only daughter (ie they don't get handed down to a younger sibling) and she can get through a year on five shirts. Six would cost £10.50, which for a year's wear doesn't seem too excessive, does it?

Personally, M&S still get my vote - but not for tights! Sorry I can't help further. I have friends who swear by Next if that helps. :)

For the ones that my DD would have to have at M&S for her age, 6 cost £45! Factor in the blazer, trousers, skirt, shoes, PE kit and although the PE kit doesn't need changing every year you are looking at £200+ every year!

No the Asda ones are very good value, not a quibble it is the fact that they have looked pretty shot at for about 6 months. Even if they last say 4 or 5 months then that isn't bad it is more the hassle of having to change the shirts after 4 or 5 months plus the p & p.

That is why I asked if there were some with a more mid price as £45 for 6 is a lot of money. Next might just be in the range, but the picture doesn't seem clear that they will take a tie. Does anyone know if these shirts are for a tie? http://www.next.co.uk/shopping/girls/schoolwear/5/3 Thanks all.

You could reduce the cost of the shirts by a third and get 4! My kids only ever have 4 on the go at a time, and I don't have a panic as there's always at least a few washes done during the week
