Well I knew MSE was no longer a nice place to be, but this thread takes the biscuit. I have felt criticised before skoll whatever in a mild way - My question was simple and non inflammatory and yet I have been told that I should teach my DD how to hand wash, to teach her to sew and stop moaning and to cope with less shirts.

My question was simple - Asda blouses are a good price, but quality isn't great - who has better quality for a slightly higher price, not 3 to 4 times the price.

I have complained to the Mods about the atmosphere on family twice and nothing has been done. On Old Style about 6 months ago there was a knuckle slap as Mods felt it wasn't being friendly. Compared to this board it is an oasis.

Back to original question, last Sept. Tesco did have 3/4 sleeved shirts which would take a tie, sorry haven't looked recently and can't remember price

I think some people just do it to get a reaction. Some obviously have nothing else to do all day (or all night!) judging by the amount of time they spend on here.

Going back to your original thread if you wanted to have 20 shirts for your daughter that is nothing to do with anyone else, you asked a perfectly reasonable question. My daughter wore the Sainsbury's one today, looked really nice, quite a slim fit I would say. She is happy with it.I bought one from Tesco a couple of weeks ago, not sold as a school shirt as ladies size(£2.50) size 10 came up bigger in the body.

A friend of mine has just reminded me of M & S's 3 for 2 on schoolwear that they run, so I will pop to our big Sainsburys and see what they have, but failing that I will wait a little and see if M&S do their offer again. She was saying that she has 4 of the Asda and they have lasted 2 years and were fine, so maybe we just got a bad batch.
She also agreed that as I am a bit disorganised there are some things that just aren't worth fighting against and to get wise to yourself and work with the things about you that you can't change is the best option, so 5 or 6 shirts here we come!

the handwashing comment was a joke, I thought the wink emoticon would have made this clear, but sorry if you felt "got at", that was never my intention:)

Just been to Sainsbury's(had time to kill waiting for my daughter) they now have 25% off all clothes until monday, bought 2 more so just over £7.00 for the two.I also noticed they had some in the 'Basics' range for £2.50 each.

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but it's the school uniform season again soon and I was wondering why parents don't get together and organise their own school's uniform on a not-for-profit basis. I've been there, done it and in fact still supply my childrens' former primary school. Yes, it isn't as easy as some may think, but it can be done. School PTAs seem to concentrate on raising funds for the school, but why do so few organise their school's uniform and save parents some money? There are around 600 pupils in my childrens' former school and I reckon that, taken over the full 7 years, these parents save in total £150,000 - £200,000 compared to a neighbouring school supplied by a shop. Food for thought...

I have to say I am dreading my 3 going to secondary school. If they go to the one I want them to the uniform is all specified from one place, blue pinstriped shirts, £16 each! pinstriped skirts, blazers, list is endless :(

As primary school uniforms go, the TU summer dresses at sainsbury's are 2 for £6 and lovely quality, ours have been washed hundreds of times (well there are three girls, and we hand them down) and they all still look brand new.
