Speak to Argos to see if they will offer you anything but if not after 2 years you will have to proof the fault is inherent. How much did you pay for it?

£60. I guess to prove the fault is inherent, I'll have to get someone to review the machine... which involves a cost...
Do you think it's likely Argos will offer me anything if I go to their store and explain the situation, or do you think it's better to write to them ....

It's always worth asking but don't hold your breathe. I think after 2 years you should consider buying a new one.

  • I ordered a new TV at the end of December last year. I paid a deposit by cheque. The model was in high demand, and after several weeks the dealer said they would not be able to supply it because the manufacturer had stopped production and was bringing out new models. They also stated that they would get me the replacement model & would honour the price agreed on the 'old' model.

Almost 6 months down the line we are still waiting for the dealer to give us a delivery date! In the meantime a local dealer now has stock of the new model. Given that we have been waiting so long am I within my rights to get my deposit back (they cashed the cheque) & order from my local dealer?
    Thanks!

Write to the dealer and tell him that you wish to cancel your order and request that your deposit is refunded to you.

I haven't asked about the refund yet. Wanted to check here first ;)

I know (from monitoring AV Forums) that the new model has only just become available, but it is the lack of communication, and the fact that some dealers have been able to supply within the last few weeks and ours hasn't, that has been the last straw!

It's worth asking the dealer if he has a delivery date for you before cancelling. Are you happy to let the dealer supply the TV to you or have you lost faith in him?

I'll give them a call tomorrow to ask, but to be honest I'd rather give our business to a local company. We would also incur less delivery charge!

Hi guys, I tried applying for a phone contract today at vodafone. However, my application was declined. They kept my photocopied passport picture page and a copy of my bank statement with all my details on it. Are they allowed to do that, and may I request to have it back? Is it common practice for the network company to keep your details like that? I am just rather concerned, as the guys working there seemed rather dodgy. Would be great to get a reply soon so that I can pop in tomorrow to get it back!
