thing is after 5 years you would be getting a pro rata refund
if they say it would last say 6 years its a refund of under £100
in real terms i think 5 years could be deemed acceptable TBH

Fair enough (I think ;)), thanks. I guess I'll have to use the self-clean on the new one many times within the guarantee!

I brought a beko washing machine from littlewoods last april 2009 it always had a slight knock to it when starting to spin but i did not think anything of it as it only lasted a sec or 2.. Towards the end of march water started to leak from the bottom and the knock started to get louder and last longer so i contacted littlewoods who have sent me to beko as i was still under the firts year of owning, they have since contracted out another company to fix the machine, it took nearly 2 weeks for anyone to come out then they said the weight has fallen out of the bottom of the machine results in it splitting a pipe.. then told it would take a week for the parts to arive, so rang beko who sent them out on a emergency and ade the appointment 3 days earlier, i had a phone call 2 days before the due appointment saying the enginer would be off ill that day and they had to rearange, now have been told the parts they ordered are faulty so they have had to reorder the parts.... i have spoken to beko who have said if i am not happy then i need to talk to littlewoods, littlewoods have said i have to give it 2 weeks from the time the man came out to see my machine and not from when i reported the fault before they do anything and if i am not happy then talk to beko!!!!!! what can i do anyone, i have no means to wash clothes and there is not a laundrett for a good 8 miles and i dont drive... 3 children aged 5,3 and 2 and have hardly any clean clothes left..

Tenth Anniversary First Post Combo Breaker
I bought my laptop from pc world last january and just three weeks after the 12 month warranty ended the laptop hinge broke as I had looked after the laptop it was an obvious manufacture fault. I wrote to customer services after being refused any help in store and quoted the sales of goods act they said they would fix in and cover the repair cost. It has been away for repair for more than 28 days now. How long will I have to give them before I ask for a replacement?

What makes you think you should get a replacement? Write to them telling them you want the laptop returned fully functioning within the next 14 days.

Hello, I wonder if anyone can help me. I bought a new blackberry curve from e2save last month on a 24 month contract. Yesterday it developed a fault and wont work. It comes up with a message "error app 523 reset". I signed up for gadget helpline in an effort to see if I could get it working. They said its corrupted software and send it back. I haven't downloaded anything on to my phone. The thing is I am just outside of the 28 days that e2save says that I have to return faulty goods. What can I do? Will I have to pay for the postage (special delivery) for it to be returned. I hope they don't give me the run around. What are my rights? Any advice much appreciated. Thanks.

The 28 day condition has no legality. It's simply a ploy on behalf of the retailer to shift blame.

Send a recorded delivery letter to the retailer with a copy to the head office. Point out that the blackberry isn't working and under the Sale of Goods Act you are rejecting it as being unfit for purpose and not of merchantable quality. Tell them that you will give them 14 days to repair/replace the product or you will go straight to the Small Claims Court.

Initially write to Amazon pointing out the problem and tell them that the TV is not of merchantable quality and you want it repaired/replaced. Amazon are normally good with their customer service so give them a chance.

i have a question about a company called Canadian Affair - my son (who has adhd and is very impulsive) booked a flight later this month via them to vancouver - after he had done this he realised he had put the wrong dates in - i immediately asked them if we could change the dates (not for a refund just a change) and they have said no - the terms are that no changes or cancellations can be made. Despite me telling them of my sons disability and impulsivity they are not budging - does anyone have any suggestions as im about to loose £300 over this error!
    thanks
