Go to Kwikfit and get a new exhaust fitted and collect the contribution from the dealer. That's as much as you're likely to get.
Maybe next time it would be advisable to get a car inspected before purchase or at least take a knowledgeable friend along to have it looked over.

On the assumption that it is a few years old, I would take the offer from the dealer.
exactly,my car is an 02 car and the exhaust really did just go
no advisory at the last MOT,but a few months later it went
its one of those things
had the OP had a look before purchase then they may have seen the corrosion0 -
had a friend come with me and he said that it might need replacing in a year or two, its a 99plate car (v reg) and it cost me two thousand. i have managed to find somewhere that will replace the part for £60, but i spose its only £30 on my part, but i didnt expect to have to pay ANYthing for atleat 6months/year. ho hum, the rest of the car looks really clean which is annoying.
thanks for any help you have contributed!0 -

Hi I took out a conract with phones4u for a htc hero, the phone developed a fault before 28days so it was due to be replaced. I just received a call from phones4u saying they no longer stock the phone and have offered me alternatives. Do i need to take an alternative or is it possible to cancel the contract?
Thanks for any help!0 -
Hi, please can someone help (Art?) as I cannot keep getting upset anymore over this . To make it easy to understand, here is the letter I have sent ...
On 1st February 2009, I bought a 42in LCD Full HD LG television with a DVD surround sound package from you at your Coypool branch for £899. The television has now stopped working.
In March 2010 the television was going faulty intermittently. After contacting Currys and being advised to seek a report from an independent engineer, one was found, and on the 12th April 2010, a repair was carried out and graciously paid for by you on the 16th April 2010 amounting to £220 (ref: CC 1469***).
The engineer was called out AGAIN to a fault on the 17th May 2010. According to the independent engineer hired to diagnose and fix the problem, the screen is faulty and would cost too much to repair (more than the television is worth). I was then contacted on the 19th May 2010 by Currys and offered £340 towards a new television (ref: CC1486***.
The Sale of Goods Act states that when a consumer buys goods from a trader they must be: as described; of a satisfactory quality; fit for any purpose made known at the time of sale to the seller and last a reasonable amount of time.
This legislation also states that the seller, not the manufacturer, is legally obliged to sort out a problem if the goods do not meet these requirements. The law also says I have six years from the date of purchase to claim damages for faulty goods.
My goods have not lasted a reasonable amount of time - I would not expect a television of this value to have gone wrong after just over twelve months. - and I am entitled to claim a replacement television of the same specifications as the one I purchased last year under the Sale of Goods Act 1979. In fact there is a same spec television available at £499.99 at your Coypool branch.
I request that you either repair or replace the television by 3rd June 2010. If I do not hear from you by this date, I will have no alternative but to take further action, in the small claims court if necessary, for the costs of a replacement item.
I look forward to hearing from you
They have rung me and said there is nothing they can do apart from offer me a contribution towards a new tv. Is this right?
