I've never posted here before, but I really need some advice please.
At the end of July I ordered online and received a pair of shoes, but I sent them back the day after they were delivered. Unfortunately, the package has gone missing since. I was also away in August so only recently got in touch with the company.
The parcel was sent by standard delivery and I got a proof of posting (which the company suggests you do). The company basically says it's my problem and will not refund the money, so I should go to Royal Mail to get compensation. If there is no other way, I will have to claim compensation but the maximum amount I could get is less than the purchase price.
I have also contacted my bank but they said they can't help me.
I think the only possible way left other than the Royal Mail route is to contact the Trading Standards, and would like to know whether my posting of the item would be enough to constitute the cancellation of the contract.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thank you
Unfortunately it is your responsibility and you will need to claim from the royal mail unless it was a prepaid label used which the company you bought the shoes from will have to claim0 -

Thank you deanos. I used their return label but not prepaid. I hope Royal Mail will give me the maximum amount of compensation.
What annoys me is that on the company's website they recommend you obtain a certificate of posting as proof. Why do they recommend it if that means nothing to them!0 -
for future reference it would have been better for you to pay the extra for recorded delivery on a returns item0

can anybody help us?
we bought hoover washing machine in january after 2 months it developed a fault

we have another fault today its the 5th one in 9 months

Your contract is with Argos whatever they say. You should contact them for a remedy. If they want to involve Hoover then that is up to them. Look back through this thread for some useful advice.

Hi,
Please can someone point me in the direction of MSE's advice about Consumer Right's with respect to car servicing? I am sure I have seen it on the website before cannot find it anymore.
Specifically my Ka engine light came on 3 months ago and I paid £110 to a garage to fix it. It did go off but yesterday it came back on. I am not going to go in there all guns blazing but I certainly want to understand my rights before I go back and discuss the situation.
Any advice/help is much appreciated.
Kind Regards,

Hi,
Could some tell what my rights were? I went into Curry's today buying a TV after ours broke. They were advertising a Samsung 37" TV at £499 under a banner of Mega deal. I had done my reseach and new it was at £599 on the web. At another branch it was at £599 as my wife checked. The sales bloke said there was one in the back all boxed ready to go.
I carried on looking at the TV's for a while and also phoned the wife. We decide to buy it so I asked another chap could i buy it. He could find it on the system as it was marked at £599. After a while he came back and said sorry only the display model is available at that price. I asked for a discount for having a display model and he said no. I mention the other bloke had said that there was in the back and he said it was another model. Basically trying to fog me off. I ask for the manager and he was busy doing a discipline issue.
Am I legal entitled to ask for the price of the TV? Should he have offered me the TV in the store room at £499?
The other question I have to ask myself was what was I doing in Curry’s in the first place. There customer service is rubbish.
Many thanks

You are not entitled to get the TV for the lower price. They have a right to refuse to sell it to you. Remember the old adage, if something looks too good to be true then it possibly is.
