    Cheers, the place I was originally buying the telly was a company called electricalexperience.co.uk and also trading under tvandvideodirect.com. I would definitely recommend people avoid these places!

    I've managed to get another good deal from GiantBuyer.com - I rang the number given, someone actually answered the phone and checked availability as it was showing as the last one in stock. They even took my details and reserved the item until I had completed the online order. Now that's customer service!

    Good news. Hope it works out this times. Let us know how you get on.

    Regards,

  • I have forgotton how to post a new thread. Please advise if you could - i am trying to post advice about the following;

    Could someone tell me what constitutes a 'True Copy' of my request for a copy of an agreement . The debt company tell me in their reply that they do no have to send a copy which bears my signature. and are 'therefore enclosing a 'True Copy' of the Credit Agreement sent out to you when you opened the account in April 2001'

  • Hi, would appreciate some advice please. I bought a LCD 32" TV online from Dixons at Christmas. It developed a fault two weeks ago and they said an engineer would come and fix it. No-one turned up on the day and when I phoned they said they were waiting for a part and an engineer would call me between 8 and 10am on Friday 11th Sept to arrange to come and do the repair.

    I didn't get a call but at 5.30pm two guys turned up and said they had come to take the TV back to the repair centre. I explained it was supposed to be repaired and I wasn't happy letting the TV go as they didn't know how long we would be without it. They said if I didn't let them take it they could not guarantee we would get it fixed at all.

    I let them take it and called Dixons who said that maybe the engineer was not able to fix it and so that was why they took it. I tried to explain that they had not tried to repair just simply taken the TV but it fell on deaf ears. I asked how long we might be without a TV and they said it could be up to 28 days!

    I am really unhappy with this as I am quite sure my nice new TV is not going to be in the same pristine condition as when it left and we are now without a TV at a really inconvenient time. Can I do anything about this? I wasn't given any notice that the TV was to be removed and the customer service has been shoddy. Thanks for reading.

    You should not be without a TV for so long. Write to them with a copy to their head office, recorded delivery. Tell them you expect a loan TV and the original TV returned repaired within 14 days.

  • Hi all,

    I have a quick query and hoping that someone can help. I've been brought a grahpics card as a present but the website has gone bust so I can't claim the money back from them, so I've contacted the manufacturer who've told me the warranty isnt valid because it is not an end user. Surely this can't be correct and wanted some info as to where I stand with this issue

    Thanks!

    The warranty/SoGA is with the purchaser, and only they can return the item, and even then only if there is something wrong with it, or it was bought under DSR's then the buyer has 7 working days to return without reason.

    Why do you want to return it?

  • The card has gone faulty and the website out of business. I was under the impression that it is still covered by the 1 year manufacturer's warranty and I feel like they are fobbing me off

    The buyer is covered, not you, ask whoever bought it to return the item, they will need proof of purchase, as it is faulty they will NOT need to pay the P&P, that is the responsibility of the supplier for a faulty product.

    How old is the card?

  • I thought as much, thankfully the person I live with brought it for me. Less than 1 year old but they are telling me as an end user that I am not covered. Thankfully I have proof of purchase as well. So they have no grounds as say no to me claiming on?
