  • Hi,
For Christmas i bought my grandparents a pack to order a new house sign name and number from b & q. When they finally got around to filling in the form and sending it off they received a letter back saying the company (not b&q) had gone out of business 2 years ago and sent a b & q voucher for £20. Is there anything i can do?
    Thanks Emma

Hi - upgraded my phone direct with the network 3 by calling them. Received phone and it was faulty, rang them and they swapped it. The replacement is faulty and they are refusing to swap it, saying I have to send it off for repair...I had the first one 10 mins and the 2nd one 5 days so this doesnt seem fair to me. Am I right they are in breeech of the SOC act as the phone doesnt make calls!!
  • Hi,
Sorry to waste your time! I didn't have all the facts.
We bought them from b&q in december originally £50 marked down to £20 so we bought 4. The grandparents sent them off and received a letter back saying that the item had been discontinued 2 years ago and that we should go back to b&q for a refund. They have NOT received a voucher or any other compensation just a letter.
Obviously the first port of call is the b&q store we bought them from. Thanks for the reply anyway!

    Debt-free and Proud!
    Hi,

I bought the complete boxed set of Friends before Christmas from Zavvi online - it's taking quite a while to get through the whole lot & today I tried to start on season 8 only to realise that I've got 2 copies of disc 2 & no disc 1 for that season.

I had a look on the Zavvi website & it said that as they were now in liquidation any problems needed to be taken up with the original manufactuer (warner bros) - but I can't find anything on their website to contact them.

I have still got the emails from Zavvi confirming my order thankfully, but my local store is already closed - any ideas gratefully received!

    Hi.
I've just bought an oven from Currys on an interest free option. I had a look on the website when I got home, typed in the product code and found that it is for a brown oven. I asked for black. I don't think brown was an option on the label, just silver, white or black.

Does anyone know what my chances are of getting a refund?

(I'm not really bothered about the finish. Brown will go just as well as black in the kitchen, but I've seen it slightly cheaper on the internet and as a Moneysaver I feel obliged to try and get the lower price. Unfortunately Currys price promise doesn't apply to on-line only stores.)

If you haven't taken delivery of the oven you should be able to cancel or at least change the colour. You don't have any rights to reject the oven if it is as described. You should have done your research before buying.

My wife bought a PC from dabs in Feb 08 via credit card.

Between Xmas and New Year the monitor showed a message that there was no input. My friend's monitor showed the same message when attached to my PC. Both monitors worked OK when attached to his PC.

I didn't make use of the 12 months guarantee from the manufacturer (HP) as I did not want to go to the expenses of sourcing packaging and paying for tracked postage to HP, then having to do without a PC for weeks. My son needed a PC as his school French homework is web based. I took the PC to PC World (I know, I know, but I was desparate ;)). They diagnosed a graphics card problem and said that a new one was needed. I chose the cheapest card and they replaced it within 3 hours - cost £75.

I wrote to dabs and the credit card company, seeking a refund of the repair costs. The CC company replied that they would look into it and respond within 28 days (nothing further yet heard), but dabs have just replied saying that, as I had given neither them nor HP the opportunity to rectify the fault, they would not be reimbursing the repair cost:mad:

I realise that this may well be the normal first reply, hoping I'll go away. I won't:D Any suggestions for my next step, assuming the CC company respond by referring me to dabs response?

Dabs are right to refuse to reimburse you so unless they change their mind as a gesture of goodwill you are going to have to pay for the repair yourself.

  • Hey there :)
I bought a computer component at a store. this computer component did not give the performance i was looking for, so I returned and asked for a refund.
The price i payed for the part was 149.99 CA$
    but i was only refunded 139.99 CA$
I was confused and i asked the lady at the cash, Why don't I get refunded on the original price that I payed and why was I not warned about this?

She replied that they did NOT HAVE to tell customers about it unless they ask about it. And that they only refund for the (Current in store price)
This makes me mad cause I did not even know that it was possible for store to do this.
    PS: This store is Microbytes.
    Thanks -Phil-
