    Hi,
    Quick question.
My brother bought a HP printer from Staples (in store) about 6 months ago. For the past month it has been having paper jam and paper feed issues. What are his rights in regards to a refund or replacement with staples? Does he need to let Staples arrange a repair?

Staples are normally good on dealing with problems. Talk to them and see what they say. At this point normally you would only expect a repair but printers are so cheap these days it may not be worth it and they may offer a replacement.

  • Hi all, i have a query, was hoping someone could help,,

i bought 2 packets of lentils about a month ago from an asian superstore in manchester.

a few weeks ago i saw some little insects in my flat, i thought it was from a palm tree i had so i got rid of that, however as time goes in they seem to be increasings, my house is very clean and im currently pregnant and have 2 young kids in the house so dont need the stress. today i cleaned up int he kitchen and found 2 packets of lentils in a drawer, they were sealed and in date with lots of these bugs inside and round the packet. i dont know how they got in. what can i do?? I cant bear to touch it.
ive been in touch with environmental health people today so they can take them away.

i wanted to know, can i claim anything for the hassle and extra cleaning and just general feeling of 'grossness' with these things in my flat if so from who. i dont have the reciept anymore as the items have been in my house for a while.

    someone please help!

If you've contacted environmental health then they will deal with this and follow up with the supplier.

You can only claim for cleaning etc if you have actually paid for this to be done. Doing it yourself is not something yo can claim. Just be happy you've got your problem sorted.

my girl paid loads of cash to a trichologist after he scared her to death about her hair in October, for which she basically got a box of hair serum (made from cayenne pepper and old loo rolls). She realised her mistake almost instantly afterwards and tried to take the thing back for a refund immediately afterwards. The trichologist has been stalling her almost every week since then and keeps saying "phone back next week, when we'll have made a decision". Apparantly their companies usual rule is that they don't do refunds "incase the vials have been tampered with", although their own trichologist has seen the vials and says that they haven't been tampered with. What are her rights in this instance? And is there anywhere she can go to get advice or a body she can threaten them with if they don't just pull their finger out and refund her instead of making her phone every week (presumably until she gets bored and gives up)

chanx in advance - horton ;o)

What would be a reasonable length of time for a DVD player to last?

Depends on how much you paid for it and how much you used it.

    Hi All,
Hope someone can give us a bit of advice. We bought an HP desktop PC from John Lewis in July 2008. A few days before Xmas it just died completely, not even six months old. We contacted John Lewis and they told us to contact HP as it was still under warranty. We arranged for a courier to collect it but they didn't turn up. When I rang they said that someone had called to collect it which they hadn't as I was in all day and had left a note on the door to say someone was in plus they also said they had left a card which again they hadn't. They eventually collected it on Xmas Eve. I have rung HP a couple of times to check progress but just keep being told it is being worked on. I have rung John Lewis a several times and whilst they are being polite, (apart from one guy who asked what I wanted him to do about it, not the sort of response I'd expect from John Lewis!), they're not really interested. My question is have we got any comeback on John Lewis bearing in mind this PC isn't even six months old yet?

You have total comeback on JL. They are responsible for dealing with your problem and not HP. If they decide to involve HP as they have this doesn't shift the responsibility from themselves.

Having said that I think you must give them time to resolve your problem. If the PC was collected from you on Christmas Eve it wouldn't have arrived with HP until the New Year, possibly on 2nd or even 3rd of January so they have only had it for about 5 days. Give them another week to sort it for you but in the meantime keep onto JL and ask them to chase HP for you.

I don't think you have anything to worry about as you are dealing with 2 reputable companies.

OK thanks for the clarification. Let it go through and argue your case in court. The retailer obviously has no intention of dealing with your problem but the court will.
