Hi, I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice, sorry for the long post but I thought I would try and get everything in :)

I had damaged the wheel on my bike so took it into a local shop to have it repaired, I was told the wheel was too damaged to fix and I would need a new one so I had that ordered in.

I took the old wheel and the new one in, I was then told that the new wheel had a different fitting, for the cassette (rear gears) so I would need a new cassette, the other option was a new wheel that would need to be ordered in, because they were closing up and I wanted the bike to get to work I agreed to buy the new cassette, which I shouldn't really have bought:p

I took the bike home, fitted the tire and wheel back on the bike. I soon found that the chain would jump around and actually come off the cassette onto the wheel.
I took the bike in and was told that they would have to book it in and setup the gears and I would really need a new chain as an old one would wear the cassette more, that would cost me around another £30 to have it fixed, this is onto of the £35 wheel and £15 cassette.
I argued that this was their fault as they had ordered in the wrong wheel and was edging toward them fixing it for free but they weren't having it. After this I left to think about it, really I should have demanded a refund there and then but unfortunately I didn't being the fool I am:p

Now I haven't touched the bike since, but haven't been back the shop either, this all happened about 2 months ago.

Is there anything I can do or have I been an idiot and left it too long?

    Thanks for any help :)

I feel you have left this too long to take any further action. Sorry.

    Regards,
    Art.

  • Good day all,
I am currently having a bit of trouble with a store called republic (clothing store), I recently purchased a T-shirt there worth £30, I did not have time to try it on due to the christmas rush and the shop being extremely busy so i bought it in my usual size, XL. This particular brand of t-shirt appear to have different measurments for XL than others so i took the T-shirt back to store hopeing for a refund.
The problem is, i paid for this garment on a Debit card however i have now closed my account with this bank (due to bank having problems) and i have moved to another bank, The store is adament that the cost MUST be refunded onto the same debit card that was used to pay or a gift card will be given in its place, My question is, since this was not a credit card, am i not entitled to have the cost refunded in cash? as they allready have my money?

    thanks for any help.

No you are not. The store has a right to insist on the refund being paid to your original card. One reason is security and another is that when they make a refund they will get their commission back that they paid from your original payment. Best take the credit note.

I have been fortunate to have Christmas and New Year in Mexico so I bought all prezzies before I went. However my grandaughter aged 6 opened her present from us which we had held back till our return to find a panel from the Chad Valley wooden dolls house was missing. I have been unable to contact Chad Valley as it apparently only supplies to Woolies where I bought it from! Please can anyone help to save any more tears from a sweet little girl? Many thanks:cry:

Chad Valley is a Woolworth's own brand toy, made by various manufactures for Woolworth's.

Might be a long shot but can you or someone you know make a piece if its wooden ?

All remaining Wolworths close down tomorrow so if you wanted a refund you will need to be very quick

  • hi, i am not yet familiar with the forum on here, so apologies as i posted re this elsewhere on the forum (moneysavers arms, i think)

    the shortened version is this,

my boyfriend bought me a pair of vivienne westwood boots costing almost £350 for christmas. they were bought from the website as my local store didn't have them in stock. i wore them on boxing day for one hour and the heel broke. i emailed them on 27/12/08 and have had no reply. i'm eager to get this sorted asap, and have had no reply, i emailed again today to another email address i found online. can someone advise, officially, where do i stand, do they HAVE to give me a replacement pair or repair the ones i have? or can they say no? i'm really concerned about this, a reply would be greatly appreciated.

    many thanks.

The delay in dealing with your complaint could be due to them not being available over Christmas.

So long as you have a genuine complaint they are obliged to replace them for you or even offer a refund.
