Whilst Christmas shopping the other day me and DH went in an art shop/gallery and saw sock monsters. They reminded me of the sock monkeys and so I looked up this thread for inspiration. Sure enough inspiration was found, sewing machine was dug out along with a couple of pairs of socks (that I didn't like wearing because whatever shoes I wore they slipped down and gathered under my foot ....nice and soft though).
Here are my first two (if it works)

I'm really pleased with my first attempts and I'm now inspired to go out and buy some stripey socks to make some more!

edit: can someone tell me how to upload photos. I tried to link to a picture in my picasa uploads but it hasn't worked aaarrgghh!

They are brilliant :T well done!!

  • Hi Guys

Well you've inspired me and I have just created my 1st sock monkey!:j The monkeys you lot have made are fantastic.:T

All I've got left to do is sew on the buttons for eyes and embroider the mouth. This is where I come unstuck because my hand sewing is awful and I have no idea how to do the mouth. Could someone explain to me in toddle terms please lol

Also does anyone have instructions for clothes etc...? I would like to make my monkey a hat but I cant knit! I can crochet though if that helps?

I will post a pic of my monkey when she is finished.

I look forward to seeing some more monkeys. I think there is a link on here on how to knit a scarf and hat for the monkeys. With my mouths I have just done chain stitch for them. Very easy indeed. Well Done.
