  • Well here is Titus Pullo an Umbro grey sports sock monkey from the region of my boyfriend side of the sock drawer. He is my first attempt and he took me two evenings to complete. No eyes though as I dont have any spare buttons. He is also ...ummmm anatomically correct lol, but I didnt think It polite to lift his tunic for the picture.

  • Your monkeys are brilliant! I love this idea so much and this thread has given me the inspiration, despite not even knowing which end of a needle is which, to make 2 monkeys! They are not works of art but I am proud of them! Can't post a pic yet as I am new but will be back to show you soon x
  • Here they are...

  • My stuffing is really lumpy too, I used an old pillow but I think it was a bit flattened!! Where can I get some from - can anyone reccomend any ebay sellers? Have no clue what type I need to get!

Brilliant, that must have added to the time needed to complete him!

great monkeys guys :T OH loves the one in the tunic!!
Man who run into airport turn-styles is going to Bangkok

To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism; to steal from many is research ;)
  • :T I've been so inspired by you all that I had to give it a go, your monkeys are all fantastic!!

I bought some fluffy socks so as to disguse my terrible hand stitching but remembered that someone had given me a sewing machine. I'm OK with the real basics but I can't for the life of me work out whether I can lift the foot enough to be able to move the fluffy sock through the machine, it keeps getting stuck and making a right old mess never mind the horrible noise! I'd be really grateful if anyone has any hints?
  • he he he, love sock monkeys

thinking of making a few more monkeys as i really enjoyed making titus and his tunic. Some girly monkeys though with nice socks not scabby boyfriend socks.

Well I can only suggest hand stitching.Thats what i did and im no seamstress but i dont own a sewing machine and wont be buying one in the near future, its really not as hard as it looks....honestly.

soon enough the sewing machine experts will pop in and help you out
