  • Wow all your sock monkeys are so great:T! I am just finishingmy second one, and am actually quite pleased with it so far! The first was my test run , and has a few "unique" qualities LOL but my second one has turne dout quite well! (well actually its more sort of my third cause my second attempt I ruined a lovely pair of rainbow socks by starting upside down and making kegs out of wrong bit of sock -doh!)
Will post some pics in a bit.
Quick q about hats... do you just knit them flat and stich them up? Or do you need to do circualr/round/whatever it is called knitting? Can manage basic flat patterns but anything else will be beyond me!

BTW this amazing for me cause I dont have a sewing machine, and have only ver sewn on a button before LOL!!!:rotfl:

    Dumb question Alert!!!

What size socks do you guys buy? I'm a size 8 so they'll be far too big won't they? LOL!

Do I look for anything in particular when buying socks? ie I ALWAYS buy the wrong one when given the choice of 2 items!

I must sound soo silly but I only do paper crafts usually.

    Thanks!

i have bought ladies size3 to6 or 4 to 7 and even used children socks depends on how big you want your monkey

when i look at a pair of socks i look at the pattern see if will work upside down and the toe and heel as they are the bum and nose and head of the monkey and lastly the edge of the socks as that is what would be on the ends of their feets and arms if that makes any sense?

Wow! angelkay that is a fantastic idea!!! if you dont mind me saying so maybe a card on top you know like this... cos i am not very good at explaining things .. http://chicnscratch.typepad.com/chicnscratchlive/2008/11/reindeer-food.html

a square card folded over stapled onto the bag you have already made and a simple print out on another card or paper to stick on it "make your own sock monkeys kit!" the link i showed you shows ribbons etc I meant a simpler version of it.

Lovely stuff Angelkay, Could I suggest that you add a picture of the finished product?

I read on another thread that angel kay has made 25 sock monkeys so the DIY sock monkey kit would be really good for her stall at the craft fair when people see her sock monkeys.
