Thanks Angelakay, never thought of making a sock monkey the other way.

i've made a mistake a couple times and started sewing the wrong end for the torso but it makes no difference except you have to do a bit more sewing. I had a couple pairs with love hears on and did it that way too to get the love hearts the right way up. its a pain when you do the arms tho as you could end up cutting the characters face in half

Couple for you - been trying to make them for gifts but not quite sure if they're neat enough yet!

Was attempt number 1... Oscar, gave him to my fiance who immediately renamed him "evil monkey"

Product of my 3am insomnia this evening. Had a funny-shaped head so the hat and scarf were an attempt to hide that, when I don't knit (mum wrote the local paper knitting column for years but could never teach me cos she was left handed and I'm not), and only had cream, blue or brown fabric in the house from making sofa cushions.

  • Good morning everyone.

Well almost completed my sock monkey for my mums friend. just need to add eyes and mouth and try:rolleyes: to knit a hat and scraf to complete it. Sorry haven`t got the hand of posting any pictures, but just posted a photo on my new blog if you want to look.

Well done dizzyblonde, your monkeys are great. I`m like you and very rusty with the knitting, but if all fails I will sew a hat and scarf.

  • Me and my boyfriend decided the weather was too awful to leave the house today, and because I've been desperate to make one of these since I saw the thread the other day, we both had a go. It was quite fun teaching him to sew it all - he's thirty one! Sorry the photo is awful, it was taken with a webcam.

The one with blue stripes is his, the pink is mine.
