The little hats are easy to make ... for the baby monkeys I cast on between 30 and 40 stitches ( depending on size of monkey head as baby socks seem to differ!) Knit 2 rows then ss 12 rows, next row knit 2 together, next row purl 2 together. Thread remaining stitches onto a needle, draw tightly and stitch up... hope this helps!

Good afternoon everyone:hello:. Just wanted to say, fantastic monkeys everyone, well done:T.
I`ve already made 2 of the monkeys, sadly didn`t take any pics and these have found new homes. I was asked by my mum to make another one for her friends girlfriend, so will take photo when this is complete. Keep up the good work everyone. Ta Ta 4 now.Grocery Challenge 2010 £400 each month

Hi irishgirl62, thanks glad you like my hats. I do use double knitting- I get mine from Boyes - just their own make. One ball would make loads!
Just working on a Christmas pudding one, just have the leaves and berries to put on the top.

Any suggestions for an Upsy Daisy sock monkey please as my little grandaughter loves anything upsy daisy at the moment. I have looked for socks but so far the ones I have seen are a definate 1 way design which would end up upside down.Nothing Changes if Nothing Changes0

Hi sethsgran: Make the monkey out of a coordinated coloured sock and use the upsy daisy sock as a T- shirt and maybe the other one a skirt0 -
fantastic Chatty thank you so much for that, never thought of using the sock as the t shirt. Will be on the look out for the socks now.
How about for the men in your life a STIG monkey, my son will probably be getting one I think from me. I made him Mr T for his birthday last week and he loved it, tells me his cousin will be really jealous!!Nothing Changes if Nothing Changes0 -

you can do the sock monkeys the other way up so sew up the open end and then use it as the head of the monkey and do your legs from the toe end (does tht make sense?!) itmakes the monkey look the same but if you wanted o use the socks to make the monkey thats the way to do it or as someone else mentions (sorry i forgot who:o) just use the characted socks to make a jumper/top or skirt for your monkey0 -
Thanks Angelakay, never thought of making a sock monkey the other way.Nothing Changes if Nothing Changes0
