I would love to be able to knit!! I am so jealous that lots of people can knit and I can't!!

I have some boys socks from primark, they are quite funky and I have had them a while, I need to make another monkey for a cyber friend of mine who I know appreciates hand crafted gifts but I am so scared to make it because I know I can't get the noses perfect!!!!! this really bugs me! I have now made 4 or 5 monkeys, or rather 3 or 4 and one sock alien!! but all the noses just looked carp!

Irishgirl I saw your tube method, thats how I did mine, infact it was probably about a year ago!! I got sick of trying to push my fingers through etc!!

  • Thanks all for the lovely comments, I feel sadly proud!

Starmummy - He's lovely! They are fab socks, everywhere I go now I'm looking out for suitable socks!

Dogcat, Jetty & Sethsgran - I did almost the same as Irishgirl to make the hat & scarf, 4 1/2 mm knitting needles because thats all I've got. For the hat 30 stitches, knit 2 purl 2 until it measured about 20 cm, that seems to be enough for a turn up brim. For the scarf, 8 stitches, knit 2 purl 2. I'm no great knitter, thats about my limit! For a couple of the others I've made pom-poms for the hat & the end of the scarf, its a bit less fiddly than doing the fringe.

Chaosweddings - I've sewn mine by hand, takes a while but I think I prefer it to using a machine, I can make them in front of the telly without disturbing anyone with the noise!
