he he he, love sock monkeys

thinking of making a few more monkeys as i really enjoyed making titus and his tunic. Some girly monkeys though with nice socks not scabby boyfriend socks.

  • :T I've been so inspired by you all that I had to give it a go, your monkeys are all fantastic!!

I bought some fluffy socks so as to disguse my terrible hand stitching but remembered that someone had given me a sewing machine. I'm OK with the real basics but I can't for the life of me work out whether I can lift the foot enough to be able to move the fluffy sock through the machine, it keeps getting stuck and making a right old mess never mind the horrible noise! I'd be really grateful if anyone has any hints?

Yes I found that the fluffy socks were great for hiding imperfect stitching lol I dont own a sewing machine, so will be sticking to hand stitching!;)

Whilst Christmas shopping the other day me and DH went in an art shop/gallery and saw sock monsters. They reminded me of the sock monkeys and so I looked up this thread for inspiration. Sure enough inspiration was found, sewing machine was dug out along with a couple of pairs of socks (that I didn't like wearing because whatever shoes I wore they slipped down and gathered under my foot ....nice and soft though).
Here are my first two (if it works)

I'm really pleased with my first attempts and I'm now inspired to go out and buy some stripey socks to make some more!

edit: can someone tell me how to upload photos. I tried to link to a picture in my picasa uploads but it hasn't worked aaarrgghh!

Hi, i'm just hand stitching my way through my first attempt, i think i may have under-stuffed him :rotfl: Oh well, hopefully it'll be adorable anyway :)

    troll35, here's what google says
    Link for an individual image
    1. On the My Photos page, click your album.
    2. Click the individual photo you'd like to link to.
    3. Copy the URL (Ctrl-C) located in the 'Link' field on the right-hand side. You can also copy the image URL in your browser's address bar.
    4. Paste the URL in an email or IM (Ctrl-V).
Then click the insert image icon (yellow square with mountain) and paste the link. Or just paste the direct link instead.

Thanks for trying nmm, but you have described exactly what I did. I don't know what I did wrong (or what I should have done differently) but I've included the link incase anybody is interested in my sock monkey efforts. Sorry they're not visible unless you click the linky
