Can anybody help ive recently applied for a paypal top up card which came thru the door the other day,now when i applied i didnt tick the box to say i had a paypal account,My problem is i cant seem to find where to link my card to my paypal account, i have emailed paypal which no response so far i was hoping somebody knows how to do this

    Regards robd1
You don't link your card, you have to log in to the top up card and select 'top up from Paypal' option and it directs you to then log in to your Paypal account.

  • Worked it out, I can only see my balance at RBS machines. Now it is all good, I top it up one day and it is on there y 2pm the next ready for me to withdraw.

Yes you do, if you don't add the card as you would with any other credit/debit card you can't top up the card from your paypal balance.

This happened to me, I didn't think I needed to add the card as it was a paypal card. When I tried to top up the card the only option was from my bank account, the top up from paypal balance was always greyed out.

After three months of paypal blaming the card people, and vice versa I gave up with it. Then one day, for no reason, I decided to add the card to my paypal account and as soon as I did that I could top it up from my paypal balance.
  • I haven't added the card to my Paypal account and I can top up just fine.

I have just been looking into getting one of these cards, and wondered if people are still having problems with them or was this just teething problems?
    Thanks

In my view, half of the issues reported stems out due to ignorance about T&Cs

Just keep a few things in mind before you order for one.

    - Paypal transfers will take 1 day to arrive in the card. So access to the money is not immediate.
    - Not valid for certain type of transactions (e.g automated fuels, car/hotel rental, financial institutions etc etc )
    - Limit imposed on spending, weekly - £100
    monthly -£1000
yearly - £10000. If you hit one or a combination of the above, thats it - you have to wait for a month/or may be upto a year to use the card.

    Cheers

If there is a weekly spending limit of £100, how could you spend £1000 in a month?

  • There is only a top up limit, NOT a spending limit.
I have spent over £400 this week on my card and withdrawn £150 from the cash point so there can't be a weekly spending limit of £100

There is no spending limit, but are top up limits, from the top up card website

"Minimum amount of any reload is £5, apart from reloads from a PayPal Account. (There is no minimum reload applicable to reloads from a PayPal Account). Maximum load amount is; £500 per top up transaction undertaken at a Post Office branch or PayPoint outlet or at any outlet of any other member of the Cashload Network (the maximum is £1000 per top up transaction undertaken from a PayPal Account); £1000 per Account per week ( i.e.: seven consecutive days); £2000 per Account per calendar month; and £10,000 per Account per calendar year."

    Cool.

I had a look at the terms and conditions and that is what I thought.

I have applied as £4.95 for two years seems like a small price to pay in comparison to waiting nearly a week to transfer money from PayPal to my bank account.

By all accounts it still appears a bit of a flimsy card though, no embossing like most other PAYG cards but that won't matter for online shopping.
