Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
Hi :hello:and welcome to the Oldstyle board.
There will be another grocery challenge for June - the thread is usually started around the 27th of the previous month, so next week probably.
Have you been to see the May challenge? Have a look and introduce yourself to the lovely peeps there, you can ask advice on anything related to grocery budgeting and more.
The first piece of advice I would give to someone new to this is to make a list of all the food you have in the freezers/cupboards and see what meals you can make with what is already there. There are lots of people around to give advice on how to combine seemingly odd combinations of ingredients into a tasty dish, so never be afraid to ask!!

Oh and have you had a look at the food shopping and grocery board? Lots of ideas on supermarkets' special offers HERE.

    good luck,
    MrsB.

Been lurking for ages - stumbled across site when looking for SC recipes.... Joined the OS Daily Thread most days. Am a Senoir Teacher in a Primary School, full time. Live with DH. Just us two - he is in Navy. Love the OS way of thinking and try to stretch meals as far as we can, not that we need to, but make saving easier for "big" jobs...... ;)

Nice to meet you all - hope to stick around

  • Hello! I'm a longtime lurker but decided to take the plunge today and register. I'm 24 and live in a small flat with my boyfriend and our adorable mini lop rabbit, Travis. I love reading the OS boards, I find the advice here really helpful and inspiring. I'm looking forward to taking part in the forums from now on :)

    Hello everyone :)

I've been lurking in here for a little while, and thought I'd finally introduce myself!

I'm definatley new to the old style way of money saving, but as I am hoping to go back to student life in September next year (teacher training! Eep!) as well as relocating to another town and renting with my OH for the first time, I reckon now is the time to get into good habits! And hopefully have some money to put away for the move :T

I apoliogise in advance for any stupid questions, hopefully I'll be as savvy as you guys soon!!

    Hi sunshinesheli,

Welcome to the Old Style board :hello:

I've added your post to the thread where everyone introduces themselves. You'll pick up lots of good habits from this board and don't worry about asking questions...there's no such thing as a stupid question here. :)

I've been a lurker for a while, have been looking up various ideas for money-saving, and tried a few methods, which seem to be working.

I live in a flat with my lovely OH, who I'm currently waiting for to get home, and will be getting a kitten sometime soon (re-homed of course :) )

Hoping to be debt free by New Years Day 2010.
    Harri.
