  • Hello - been looking on here for ages but have now plucked up the courage to join in!

I'm 56, married, 2 grown up daughters, 1 grandson and like being 'tight' as they say in Yorkshire! (read that as being frugal!)

I'm a part time office dogsbody (doing everything) and for my hobbies I like knitting for my grandson, reading novels (mainly detective) and am a church goer.

So now I've introduced myself, and joined up, I'll keep popping in and out so you may see me on here now and then, but please be patient with me if I get the wrong end of the stick about what the initials/smily faces all mean!

They say you can't teach an old dog new tricks, but I'm going to try to ignore that and prove it wrong!
  • I'm another lurker!

I'm 25 with an OH who still at 29 still doesn't understand money. We're living in a lovely rented house, but are trying to settle our debts before thinking of buying our own. I've just qualified as a nurse so hopefully before long i'll be earning a decent (well compared to being a student) wage.

I'm addicted to this website, I'm sure my mother would vouch for that. I've learnt so much from here. My friends think i'm a domestic Goddess and am very street wise :rotfl: This month I am hoping to set a ridiculously low grocery target and stick to it. I have more food in this house than Mr T! I'm addicted to buying food, not eating it though  That's OH's job!

I love cooking and crafting - when I get time. I get so much inspiration for my slow cooker and in the crafty section for pressies. I'm about to start rearranging a cross stitch of Noah's ark for a new baby sampler as my "Godsister" is due in 6 weeks. Also have lots of supplies for papercraft and a lovely new selection of beads which i'm yet to play with incase I mess it up. I have started knitting, but that is not a success. Any tips? :D

  • Hello all,

As I mostly snoop around the OS board, thought I should properly introduce myself. I'm 21 and live in a converted fire station with my two guinea pigs and two flatmates - I love it :) I'm a final year immunology/psychology student, and I also work answering out of hours calls for various housing associations.

I love doing the grocery challenge, as I too believe I own more food than MrS, but can't stop buying it. I love cooking and baking, and reading baking blogs and collecting cookie cutters etc. :) To keep in shape despite my love affair with food, I go to dance classes (vertical pole fitness ;) and have my own 12' pole - see converted fire station comment for why this amuses my mates so much. :rotfl:

I like going out to play pool, travelling to America to see my best friend, and driving my car (passed my test 2 months ago :j). Currently stressing over exams and getting that elusive 'Real Job' university was supposed to prepare me for... think I'd just be better off winning the lottery!

    Hello all

I've been a 'lurker' for quite some time and have thoroughly enjoyed reading the threads and picking up some wonderful tips.

I'm 50, married and Mum to two lovely, thoughtful kids (one living permanently at home - is disabled, the other will be returning from 3 years at Uni this summer).

This forum has given me the confidence to find ways to save money, haggle for discounts, & be more inventive with my cooking. I'm looking forward to lots more tips and advice.

    My family LOVE mse!
