Hi
I am Kris and I am from Canada, I stumbled on to this thread looking for money saving ways to feed my family and have been lurking here ever since
I work full time outside of the house and am a mom to 1 child 14yo. My partner is out of town most of the week and he has 2 kids 14 and 13 that he sees on the weekends.
I am hoping to teach all the kids how to cook from scratch and how to save money.0 -

I just realised I haven't introduced myself anywhere on this site yet. Since I spend most of my time lurking on the OS board, this seemed like the perfect place to do an introduction!
I turned 26 yesterday, and I'm a computer programmer by trade. I flew the nest about 2 years ago (I'm about a 3 1/2 hour drive away from my family), and I've had a stupid amount of bad luck since I moved south with accomodation and the people I've gotten involved with. That said, my luck has been on the turn these last 4 months or so - after all the drama (moved house 5 times since I moved to Cambridge, first landlady sold the house after I'd been here for 3 months, endured an insane/possibly bipolar housemate for way too long, had a bf cheat on me 3 weeks after I moved in with him because he begged me to, lost all but one of my 'friends' who decided to distance themselves from me through out the very messy break up process, etc) I now have a nice housemate, though I have a small debt (3k) after buying a car.
I decided that with things starting looking good, it was time to take control of my life, and teach myself to cook, save money and take control of my finances! I'm remembering that life isn't actually out to get me, I have a very nice new boyfriend, and I'm enjoying my new pet projects immensely.
And that's pretty much where I am at the moment in a nutshell. This is not an automated signature - I type this after every post.0 -

Hello
I've been here and been posting for a few days now, but thought maybe I should introduce myself..
I'm 35, mum of 4 (3 girls and a little boy) and have been a full time mum for longer than I can now remember!!
After years of struggling with debts that had occurred from my previous relationship 9 years ago, we are pretty much debt free, however it doesn't stop us struggling and pinching every penny we can to make ends meet....which I guess is why I am here.
So far this year, my hubby has given up smoking, and we are eating a lot healthier....have now just got to fill the freezer and reduce the weekly shopping bill, which I am sure won't take too long with all the hints and tips on here......
It's taken a while, but now I am enjoying cooking and making everything from scratch....thank you to everyone so far for all the fantastic information I have so far collected

Hello
I'm sorry but my name's not really Miggie, but I've posted so much about our debt that I think I need to stay anonymous in case MIL has a heart attack. I've been lurking around mse for a couple of years and I've joined a couple of threads, but get a bit shy about just joining in conversations - this evening has been different, probably due to the glass of wine supplied by dh.
I chose Miggie as my nickname used to be Mrs Miggins because of my cooking for all and sundry at the drop of a hat.
I love cooking, gardening and knitting and socialising and POLITICS - aah!
In an ideal world I'd have a small holding and be self-sufficient, in real life we have a 70's semi with a small back garden and a huge (unfenced) front garden.
Actually, in an ideal world I'd be Prime Minister....and do a better job of it ....hmmm best go before the wine starts talking...
I love this site and all the people on it. Cheers!0
