I stick to materials cheaply available in the UK. Call that fusion style :p.
  • Hello, I realised I have never really introduced myself. I'm Scottish, I live in London, married and we have four lovely boys. I work part-time and I am studying for a degree in English Literature with the OU.

I discovered the site about a year ago. I love OS board. It has been so helpful in cutting down on our food waste. I have joined the GC for the first time this month. I never really tallied before what I spent on food so this month has been a revelation. I think I will probably end up a bit over but not my much. I want to cut back a bit on the spending because times are so uncertain at the moment.

All the tips I have been reading remind me of all the things my Grandma used to do. I am even getting better at baking.

I am a 24 year old doctor, and live with my policeman boyfriend. We bought our own house last year, and are very proud of it. I have very, very little time, and my boyfriend has a very, very big appetite (big gym-goer), so we have to find ways of cooking large volumes of cheap food very quickly!
I have just discovered this board by mistake, but already love it!
I already meal plan and use a slow cooker, but I am a bit of a cleaning obsessive and currenlty use far too many different cleaning potions. I would like to find out new ways of OS cleaning from this board.

I have a very neat and tidy house, but behind the cupboard doors there is a different story. I would like the inside of my cupboards to be as neat as the rest of the house!

I also think sleeping is cheating (!) and despite working 80 hr weeks sometimes I find cleaning very therapeutic even at 4am, which drives my boyfriend mad.

    Hmm time I introduced myself.

Im Laura, 30 years young and single. I live in my own house I luckily bought 7-8 years ago (never can remember). I live with my cat Maggie who is white with toirtoise shell. She is adorable and follows me round.

I got diagnosed with fibromyalgia 3 years ago (this june). Had a rough few years. Bad health stuff in August 07 which meant I nearly lost my job. So i had to move to a different job with less pay, and cut my hours to 4 days a week. Spent a year living on my old income, and got £1200 overdrawn. Have been paying it off since November and will be free of overdraft at the end of Feb, which is very esxciting.

So i am basically learning to live within my means. Since Nov i have joined freecycle and got a brand new foot spa, a BM , a minidisc recorder , a shelf, and other stuff im sure. I have started growing 4 herbs/seeds in a kit i got for my birthday (someone listens!). My mum kindly bought me a SC which i obsessed with for months after reading on here. I have seeds for coriander , onions and peas to plant still. Im new to cooking in batch etc and generally casseroles and what i call grown up food.
Find the stuff on this site absolutely amazingly helpful and everyone is just lovely. Find myself addicted, the more i find to read the more things I learn!

Just bought some lentils too, so im an OS in the making hopefully:beer:
A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

  • Hi there

As you can see, I've not posted much, but having joined the Grocery Challenge, that is changing.

I'm Dorothy (Dor) 62, married for 41 years to Jeff 68. I work full time as a library manager, OH is head of Physics at a secondary school. We both still work fulltime as we love our jobs (and the holidays we can afford;) ) We own our own home, mortgage paid off at last :j :j :j We have 4 children, DD1 36 split from her civil partner, DS1 34 living with partner and her three teenage boys, DD2 30 living with partner and our twin DGDs 7months, and DD3 29 married with DGS 8yrs (and sometimes stepD and stepS)

I have always cooked, sewed for the children etc, but never really budgeted. We are lucky to not to have money worries, but I have become interested in getting the best for what we spend. In part my motivation is that of being green (we have recycled since the 60s when only hippy types did LOL) and also not wasting the resources of our world. I love the challenge of spending less, but eating better. I have cut our monthly housekeeping from £400 (a conservative estimate :o ) to £250.

Even at my age, I'm learning so much from others on this board.
