When it says it does not apply to 3G phones does it mean 3G phones using any service, or just 3G phones using a 3G service. I have a Nokia 6630 and wondered if I'd be able to use the radio application with it

I am guessing it is 3G services rather than a 3G phone that they restrict. Can anyone confirm this?

I have been sent here as I was asking the same type of questions in MSE in another zone. Am trying to set up PAYG gprs for a hospialized relative who expects to be in for 6 months only. He has been given the nod to use GSM there as it's his own room. I have already bought a pcmcia non-3g gprs card (unlocked, no SIM yet) for his laptop.

So I am looking thru the options in this thread - I assume most options are in connection with contract usage not PAYG/prepaid.

Does anyone know good options to suit someone who wants GPRS internet access for 6 months? Estimate usage say 50MB/month could be more or less depending on costs. Even an expensive option would be a start for email. Plan to use Onspeed from the start.

heard of other people saying this, but with costs as high as £3 per mb on a voice contract, if they did decide to bill you - even just for that month.. it could be very costly

Orange payg in your data card is the way to go, what I have - Unlimited GPRS for £1 a day, 50mb stuck on contract has nothing going for it in comparision

Thanx carly, I have ordered an Orange £1 sim to go with the gprs pcmcia card - don't know how I'll set this up but one step at a time...

My brother-in law eventually opted for an Orange 3g Office Card. It installed perfectly and he gets 3g speeds in his Bournemouth Hospital Ward locaton. Is paying £23.50 for 65 MB data allowance per month but has greatly increased the amount of surfing on this by using Onspeed.

So, mobile internet is available at nearly broadband prices!

Meanwhile for myself, for retrieving emails and the odd web page on travels, I have decided to try a £10 GPRS Modem (where you dial up) with an o2 SIM. Haven't had time to experiment yet.

I owuld check out T-Moible's web n walk offer. The price which is more than the normal tariff includes 40Mb data allowance. The devices are pretty cool too
