As previously stated you can use any name you like as long as it is not trying to defraud.
As a child my mother remarried and I used that surname, no legal change was made. I subsequenly applied for a passport in that name and had to send a statement that this was the name I was now known by.
So you can use either your prefered name or your offical name just make sure travel plans are in the same name as your passport! etc.
I never changed anything by deed poll or paid anyone to change it.Smile it confuses people!0 -
Have you thought of buying a tree?
I know its a bit off the wall, but it really is a great present, they can see it grow as they do.
If its for a girl get one which flowers at the time of year of their birthday, if its a boy, get one that grows about a foot / year and they will love to climb it.
You can almost guarantee that no one else will buy the child one of these (unlike the 101 winnie the pooh keepsakes that the child will end up with!).
Good luck.

I think a silver charm bracelet is a lovely idea, to add to over the years,
when my son was christened one of his godfathers made a video which included one days headlines, an episode of corrie and other things that he can look back on as things that happened in the year he was christenedI am a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Wales, Small Biz MoneySaving, In My Home (includes DIY) MoneySaving, and Old style MoneySaving boards. Not sure if they still do but BHS used to sell them.
Have you tried the little childrenswear stall in Bolton Market Hall (The Marketplace one)? They're pretty expensive but they have a good range of robes, dresses, suits and accessories for christenings.
