i was in a big tesco store with a seperate electronics and phone section, they have the iphone on display with PAYG and monthly tariffs on show
I think you have to go to a Tesco store with a Phone Shop inside.
Use store locator online to find out which ones are near you.
It looks like they are found in large Superstores and Extras.0 -
If I have an 02 contract open on dec08 for 18m how long before I can ask to switch. I was told by 02 only in may is this correct or are they fobbing me off. I notice on this site is said after 9 months.0

After 9 months you can change your tariff to a lower one, but can't change the contract. If you are paying £35 pm then you'll get an early upgrade of 1 month before your contract ends; on the £45 pm tariff you can upgrade 3 months early. So assuming you're on the £35 pm tariff, they weren't fobbing you off...0 -
I can't quite believe the amount of money people are willing to pay to get a 3GS. How much difference in price between the 16gb and 32gb versions? You know how much the extra flash memory thats inside them costs?
At any price the iPhone is a rip off.0 -

It's called capitalism, people pay what they're asking, or don't buy it. I bought one, didn't give it a 2nd thought, but thanks for the useful input :beer:0 -

It's such a pity you didn't post this inciteful information right at the begining of the thread. You could have saved 49 pages of discussion eh?
We buy them because we want them, not necessarily because they represent "value for money" or do you justify everything you purchase? It would be sad world if we all did that. I love mine and consider it one of the best purchases I've bought in years.0 -

lol - respect! I don't think I am saying iPhones are rubbish - they have put a rocket up the bum of the mobile industry. Not for me as I want a physical keyboard anyway, I was just curious as to why people seem enthusiastic to pay vast sums for them when the benefits of say the higher memory ones are a fraction of what you pay.
For example, O2 do them SIM free. The 32GB one is £100 more than the 16GB one. But a 16GB MicroSD card as used in absolutely every other smartphone is £30 at most. Kerching £70 for nothing to Apple. I totally get the "we like it" attitude - as someone wedded to WinMo I'm hardly one to talk. I just don't get why people let Apple fleece them. People don't generally like getting fleeced, so why do they let Apple keep doing it? Is it the fashion appeal of the white earbuds?0 -
If you surf a lot, check emails, or use many online apps, and do this stuff away from WiFi, remember that you'll have to pay for data in your tariff, which pushes the price up.
If you're a heavy data user, it can add significantly to whichever tariff you move on to at the end of your 12 or 18 month contract. If less is more, think how much "more" more would be.0
