    Hi all,

First venture in the mobile phones board

I'm coming to the end of my iPhone 3G contract and can upgrade from 16th December. My 3G is very close to the 16gb limit and I would ideally like to get a 32gb 3GS. Tesco's new deal is tempting me with its low £20 tariff.

Just wondering if anyone has managed to blag a good deal from O2 now that 3G customers are due for renewal. I know they have the iPhone simplicity tariff for £20 per month but what are the chances of getting that PLUS getting a 3GS at a similar price to Tesco?
If you are prepared to pay for the phone then they may be able to do something- however O2 don't seem to be that bothered about retentions any more;).

Thanks for the reply :D Just given O2 a call to see what they could do but they're not budging on handset price  She tried to talk me into a 24 month contract but I really don't want to be tied in for so long which is why I like the look of the Tesco deal. I don't mind paying out for the handset as I will sell my 3G on ebay to cover more than half the price of the new one.

Also like the idea of double Tesco Clubcard points for purchasing the phone, clubcard points for monthly contract cost and £30 cashback from Quidco for a new contract!!

PAC code now requested and hello Tesco methinks!! :D

    Hi All

Im looking into getting an iphone for my O/H. I've had a look on the Apple site and Tesco to get just the handset (PAYG). This may be a silly questions, but why is it cheaper on Tesco?

    Apple - 32GB £549 and Tesco - 32GB £538

    TIA :)
I can say whatever I like here ... 'cos no one can see me .. ner ner ner ner ner !!!....

Because apple *always* charge full RRP in their stores, despite being the maker and retailer you'll never get a discuunt in an apple store unless it's a refurb'ed item. Just the way they sell.

The phone is £538.30 fromn 02, if you are willing to top up with £50 when you buy it on Orange the phone is reduce a tenner to £529.

    Thank you gjchester :)

I think the best contract deal I've come across is Tesco's (32GB) 12mths at £20/mth which includes £60 worth of calls/txt & unlimited internet.

On the PAYG, it'd be the one I mentioned previously (32GB) phone cost, plus one £15 top-up (£30 worth of calls/txt & unlimited internet) is £538.

I've registered an interest with Tesco but I'm not holding my breath for it to be released in time to be wrapped up as a Christmas gift!

    Thanks again

    Ax

But at £407 for the phone, that works out a whopping £647 for 12 months, or £54 a month, and that's for a deal that will only give you 300 minutes a month at 20p a minute, or 600 texts @ 10p (excluding your 5 'favourite' numbers)? Or am I missing something?

Does anyone know whether the iPhone from Tesco will be locked to Tesco or O2? I know that Tesco uses the O2 network but I'm not sure whether the phone will be locked to Tesco or O2. If anyone can confirm when they receive their phone, I'd be most grateful. Cheers.

Orange offer 600/mins and 500/txt and unlimited internet on an 18 month contract for a total of £904 (£50.22/mth) (£274 for the phone) ... that works out a £694 for 12 months (£57.83/mth), you get extra mins/txt, but my O/H would use the internet/wifi access more. This deal is only marginally cheaper that O2's offer.

Also, I think he would prefer a 12 month contract so he doesn't have to wait as long to move on to the newer models that a due soon :D

EDIT: Just re-looking at all the info. Is the 16GB enough storage?!? TIA :)
