Currently on O2 PAYG topping up £15 a month to ensure unlimited texts and internet. Just wondering if the price of buying non-contract iphones has come down. ipod has recently packed up and due to additional need for a new phone considering iphone. If itunes available on non-apple phones would also consider alternatives.0

The simple answer is....no and probably not anytime soon sadly. I may be quickly corrected but, I'm unaware of an alternative product that supports Itunes. Due to the current hype around it, I think prices will still be sky high for quite a long while yet :S.LBM 2 - 27.05.09. Hi everyone,
My very first post ever - so please be kind :-) Apologies in advance if I get anything wrong...
I've been with 3 on an 18 month contract that finished a few weeks ago, with the worlds worst Sony Erricsson in existance. I paid £20 a month for 1100 mix and match texts (which I never went over). Despite the phone being appauling (an endless list of ridiculous faults), I found 3 quite rude and unhelpful on a number of occasions.
I own a Mac and would LOVE an iPhone, because that way I can sync many things that I am dependent on my Mac for (my mail, iCal, music etc. and access the internet and have all the fun the iPhone offers!). I'm not a mega camera fan, but I suppose it would be useful seeing as I don't have a camera. I have a bit of a hectic lifestyle, so getting my e-mails and browsing the internet on the move would be a MASSIVE benefit.
My boyfriend is on Orange and has never had a problem with them, and seeing as I call him the most (around 200 minutes a month), I could use him as my 'magic number'. I'm also an avid cinema goer - so it all seems very ideal.
I'm probably going to pick the £35 a month contract (seeing is I never went over the 1100 contract with 3).
However, when trying to cancel my current contract with 3, she advised me to wait until December as all the companies will bring out great deals, so I could potentially save a lot of money...
So - I'm hoping for everyone's opinions - is this likely, will there be better deals in December, or was she just fobbing me off?
Also, is the insurance with orange, (£12 a month) worth it? I'm usually a very careful person, I'll be ever more careful with an iPhone! But - I'm wondering if insurance might be an added peace of mind? However...£12 is a LOT.
Thanks everyone,
Lucy0 -

You do realise the 30% a month discount is going on the 1st december and that £75 is a new offer, very poor compared to the 30% obviously (o2 Open its called)
The 30% discount does apply to the iphone 3g though! just not the 3GS0 -
haha dunkmat. That was funny. Well...he has been through a lot this year and he never wants anything in general. Could I possibly get him decent used iphone on ebay....and then he could find a contract that's suitable for him I suppose? I don't think he would really notice if it's 3g or 3gs (he's not a technical man, so I'm quite surprised that he even wants an iphone..??). Can he use all the features of the iphone if I do get him an unlocked phone on ebay? Or does he need to have some kind of special contract?0

Are you sure about that? My company offers the same deal and you CAN get the old iPhone 3G (not the S) for 30% off."...IT'S FRUITY!"0 -
OK Sauce - who is your company! I really want a 3G now.
Spoke to a few people in shops the other day. They said that you can get the latest software on the 3G, get an app. for taking video on the phone, lose 1mp on the camera and have pages load only slightly slower than the 3GS. They basically said save the £100 difference you are getting if you are buying it on PAYG and buy a 3G.
I'm trying to decide if I want all my music on my phone or do I want it on my ipod....if I want all the music on it, I'll sell my ipod and buy the 3GS.
Does putting a lot of music on iphone slow it a lot?

Hi, i'm with Orange, am out of contract and looking to upgrade to an iphone 3GS. Have rung Orange, got through to upgrades, then transferred to customer retentions where i kicked up a stink about upgrade cost, but they refuse to give me any discount, saying they cant! Have tried everything under the sun, but to no avail!
Cheapest price i could get is £34.86 a month, for 600mins, 500 texts, 24 month contract, phone cost £87.
And if i want it insured they want an extra £12 a month! I need insurnace as very bad experiences of losing/damaging/getting phones stolen previously.
I've been with Orange over 10 years, and have 2 phones on contract and 2 on PAYG.
Any way of getting a iphone 3GS cheaper?0 -

yes of course I do that's why it's good and wouldn't want the 3g as it's old to me now but thx anyway0
