Once Vodafone get started with the iPhone in Q1 2010 there will almost certainly be a price war between the three suppliers - O2, Orange and Vodafone

Better to understand a little than to misunderstand a lot.

Does anybody still know if it is possible to downgrade the price plan after 9 months??

Do you know you can only downgrade one plan at a time, ie £45, £40, £35 etc (or whatever the next lowest plan is), you cant go £45 straight to £20 in month 9.

Has anyone found a way of getting the £440 16gb 3GS any cheaper? i have an O2 simplicity so don't need a contract. I just need to buy it as a PAYG and I'm having trouble parting with that amount of money :(

Cashback via Quidco, saves a few quid, but not much, about £15 IIRC.

Yeah, i understand this. I just want to make sure it is possible to go from £45 to £35 contract or whether the loophole has been closed at all??

As far as I know you can still decrease it incrementally, one level at a time. I've just changed mine from £35 to £30 to pay off and port to T-Mobile.
  • New mobile posting so please be kind...

I'm looking to get an iphone 3Gs... my existing phone is a PAYG on orange and I've had it for about 7 years (its now got a broken screen). Going into my local stores, browsing this wonderful site and the intenet has left me very very confused. My options seems to be:
    • Pay £400c for the phone on PAYG and then pay usage costs on top of that
    • Pay a decreasing amount for the phone on contract for an increasing amount of inclusive calls/text/internet
    • Try and make any purchasing through cashback
Am I missing anything that I need to get my head around. My current usage of my existing phone is minimal - I top up £10 every couple of months :o - which may explain my confusion/hesitation etc

    Thanks

  • hello. I am complete novice but I would like to get my husband iphone for christmas. (he really realy wants one!) He is with vodafone at the moment and probably uses the lowest contract and pays about 24 pound or less a month. What would be most economical way to get iphone for him?

It will probably work out cheaper in the long run to get a new husband rather than get him a new Iphone? I know there are lots of men out there who would be happy with a Blackberry or Nokia on a low tariff for Christmas.

If that isn't an option and you really need to keep him you need to find out a) How long does his existing contract have to run? b) Does he want to keep his number? c) Can he change provider due to coverage? d) Are you going to pick up the increased tariff etc etc etc.

th easiest way would be just get him a Pay as you go and depending on the model 3G or 3GS would depend on the cost. Problem then is he will have to bolt on through Vodafone in January an Iphone package.

If he's loaded that won't be a problem, if he's not loaded maybe you should look at my initial option!! :rotfl:
